Official VIOFO Player Now Available For Windows PC & MAC

After updating the firmware, be sure to go into the cameras settings and manually default the cameras settings. I would also press and hold the hard reset button on the side of the camera for about 5 seconds.

The camera does power up after the update. The firmware level reported in the VIOFO app is now v2.5. Just can't get it to record. REC light is flashing fast, but it won't record anything. I recorded video from the phone and the front of the VIOFO device, but this site won't let me upload it because it's too large. Let me know if you have another site I can transfer it to.

Consider doing a hard reset. Often after an firmware update the dashcam may perform oddly and the hard reset can clear those problems.

To upload a file you could put it on YouTube and share the link or upload it to temporary free storage site like wetransfer.

Did you put the two firmware files on the SD card at the same time to let it update? The camera should only choose the correct one to update. You may deeply format the card to FAT32, then put two firmware files on the root of your card, then update the camera again to test if it helps. If the issue persists, please reset the camera after updating to have a try.

I got it to record again. Thanks for all your suggestions/help. After updating I put the original SD card back in, which has the original DCIM folder from the v1.5 firmware, and now it records and the camera is behaving normally. The app reports that the camera is now on firmware v2.5.

It looks like there was no DCIM folder created after the firmware update. My best guess is that it had trouble writing the SD card that I was using to update the firmware??

More good news is that I now can see the GPS/map data on my phone!! Bad news is I still don't see the GPS/map data on the VIOFO PC app. When playing it back on the PC, the video file shows GPS and speed information, but it doesn't show up on the side panel with google map. Speedometer and compass directions are not active either. Any suggestions for this problem?

Please upload an original video with GPS information here for analysis:

Please advise us of your email address in PM after uploading.

@rander

I have version V1.2_0510 and tested some files in the New Viofo Player and they worked fine including the GPS information.
The speed and compass is shown under the video.
Is that what you are referring to?

Doesn't look like my GPS coordinates from the videos I sent. The picture you sent doesn't show the camera view or the GPS/Maps on the right side of the screen. Mine still doesn't work, I've deinstalled/reinstalled the VIOFO PC app, but I still can't get the GPS/Maps to display on the side of the video. I also don't see any speedometer or compass readings. The video can be seen, but nothing else.

What size is your monitor?

Is scaling being used?

I’m using three 34 inch ultrawide monitors, no scaling.
It has probably scaled automatically for the width of the monitor, and the missing stuff has fallen off the bottom of the screen, because the scaling was configured for 16:9 only!

Make it not full screen...

I changed resolution to 16:9 (1920x1080), and did not use full screen. Same issue.

So we know what you are seeing post a screen shot here.

That is a very bright image for 2AM 🤔

@rander

Looks like you have found a glitch in the matrix lol

I ran up some old A129 Duo video and it didn't load the gps information.
I used the T130 which through me off the scent.

@viofo @VIOFO-Support

Viofo has told me that it is still in development.

I guess it is just release 1.0. I did send them my files but they haven't responded. You've been the only one talking to me since I sent it in this past Tuesday.

Yeah, I don't think I stopped to set the time...
You shouldn't need to set the time if the GPS is working, and even if you haven't set the timezone, that still looks a bit bright...

Cheers.

I have invested some time in this program as a curious user and made a how to install for the people who have trouble with that sort of thing.

I'll update our findings on that page.

It was almost midafternoon and I was heading west...
