I currently have a119mini2 on a Tesla and its powered by a hot USB port. I have trouble with my a119 mini2 where it cannot exit parking mode based on GPS and speed combo.

Even at 20mph, its still recording with "NO GPS" in parking mode. I need to unplug and plug to boot the dashcam and start normal recording. Is there a dashcam (2k+ res) that can reliably use only GPS+speed to enter and exit parking mode (?). I dont want to splice any wires as its still in warranty and I read Tesla closesly baby sits voltages in the circuit.

I think I have a good guess at what might be going on in your situation. If the A119 Mini 2 is going into parking mode when not powered by a VIOFO hardwire kit, it relies on the GPS module remaining enabled/powered in parking mode. When the vehicle starts moving again, the GPS will detect the movement of the vehicle causing the A119 Mini 2 to exit parking mode and resume normal mode recording.

At some firmware version along the way, VIOFO added an additional setting labeled "Disable GPS in Parking Mode" to the A119 Mini 2 settings pages [page 4 of 11 in the latest firmware]. The default value for the "Disable GPS in Parking Mode" is "On" which will disable/power down the GPS module when the A119 Mini 2 goes into parking mode. Unfortunately, VIOFO has not added the "Disable GPS in Parking Mode" setting to the VIOFO app [just checked the latest Android VIOFO app v3.2.19].

I just installed the firmware version you have installed in your A119 Mini 2 [v2.1_20250409]. I then used the "Default Settings" option to make sure all settings were at their default values for that firmware version. I wanted to confirm the default setting for the "Disable GPS in Parking Mode" is still "On". I did confirm that it is still defaulting to "On".

I would recommend using the settings menu pages on the A119 Mini 2 and go to page 4 of 11 and click on that entry to change the value to "Off". That should leave the GPS module enabled/powered while in parking mode. With the GPS module still functioning in parking mode, the A119 Mini 2 should be able to detect when the vehicle starts moving so it should resume normal recording again.

This solution only fixes the problem while the camera is actively in parking mode. So, when parking mode ends due to parking recorder timer or the low voltage cutoff, the dashcam may not awaken when you start driving again, even though the GPS has been active. So occasionally, you may have to press the power or record button to get it going again.
