SANDISK 256GB High Endurance , card , keep getting an error on Sd card to format, but I can turn off camera and restart it works fine for a few days and get the same error, have reformatted, is it just a bad card ? Or something else?may need to get the Viofo card ?

Thanks

Sandisk High Endurance is not recommended by Viofo.

Viofo dash cams are highly sensitive to the quality of the memory cards. Using memory cards outside of the recommendations can result in slow boot time, slow parking mode activation, skipped frames, and errors just like yours.

Wow , Thanks I thought when I got this card it was the right one, have ordered the viofo , it worked well for a few months oh well.
Thanks again

Thankfully you can still keep that memory card aside and use it for other dash cams.

Also with how memory card prices are trending📈. I'd say buy another Viofo memory card before prices go up more. You'll find it useful for troubleshooting, and you'll eventually want to use a new one anyway after a year or so of use with the previous one.

Personally, I take out the memory card from my A329S every so often to take a look at the locked videos, and I have the spare one in just in case something happens to my car during parking mode.

I have used the Sandisk High Endutance 512gb cards in the Viofo A229 Plus 3-channel. It works but I found once the card starts to fill up, I can get the memory card error msg.

Having said that, I now use Viofo 512gb (x4), Viofo 256gb and Sandisk Max Endurance 256gb. I bought a lot of Viofo because the prices were going up.
2025: Viofo 512gb $129 CAD on Amazon Canada. 2026 Viofo 512gb $172 (x3) on Amazon Canada. It then went up to $192 and now it's at $320 CAD each.

What about Viofo dashcams make them so sensitive to the qualitry of the memory card whereas (I assume based on your statement) other dashcams are not as much or less sensitive?

I don't think it's Viofo specifically, but other dashcam manufacturers don't publish recommended vs. not recommended cards. Dashcams in general have very heavy write action so the cards matter. Viofo top-end dashcams like the A329S are particularly harsh on cards because they write larger file sizes each minute and use up the capacity sooner. Memory cards have different performance guarantees, and why a manufacturer like Sandisk make a Max Endurance (recommended by Viofo) vs. High Endurance version (not recommended).

This Viofo blog has useful info on why the card matters and based on Viofo customers with problems: https://www.viofo.com/blogs/viofo-c...e-the-problematic-cards-returned-by-customers

That is why i have a substantial collection of memory cards to test with.
And i think these days with the prices you will want even more to be god damn sure the card you are going to get will work.

Some of my cards the dashcam will at once call " no go " but others will format in there and look like everything is dandy, but when it come time to tick over and delete old stuff to make room for new, that’s often where the errors kick in.

This is the bulk of my collection at the moment, also have some brand cards from Vantrue and 70mai ASO, also Viofo but those small ones i do not want to use myself, its 256 GB or more IMO

There are considerations to be aware of, for instance the Kingston cards which have long been good to me, there are now in their 3 or 4 revision, just something to be mindful of.

PS: forgot to add the Adata High endurance to the picture, it was lying right in front of me so of course i did not see it.

This is the reason I opened a thread in another forum to try and gauge experiences with memory card performance across various brands of dashcams. Dashcam you own? Memory card you use? Issues? I can further drill down with 2k? 4k?

What memory card and dashcam brand do you use? Issues?

High bitrate and fast write speeds are card killers.

The average user tends not to read the manual and rarely understands bitrate or other technical nuances of the dashcam or the microSDXC card. This is evident from the number of posts I see on various forums where the user had an accident but can't find his video from that time frame. They do not know to look in an 'event' type folder. They get a new dashcam and use an existing memory card that is used in a less demanding device... then they are unhappy when the card fails repeatedly and think the problem is the dashcam.

I have never had a Vueroid, Viofo, SanDisk Max Endurance, or Kingston Canvas Go Plus card fail in any dashcam.

Just one of the reasons I'm not jumping on the '4K/60FPS is best' bandwagon.

I want the highest quality video from my fancy dashcam and have the best chance for legible moving license plates. Therefore, I choose 4K/60fps no HDR and pay a little more for the super-duper endurance memory cards. It's unfortunate that the only recommended 512GB microSD is the expensive Viofo card (SanDisk doesn't offer a 512GB Max Endurance, only High Endurance which is not recommended), but I just purchased one, regardless.

Indeed, there should not even be a option to select a lesser quality, at least not if you ask me.

Then we would have to discuss bitrate, number of channels, heat, and the memory card type. The current affordable microSDXC doesn't seem up to this sort of demand.

Dashcams could be made for 8K video, but the memory requirements, the controller, heat, and cost would be prohibitive for most people, except hardcore enthusiasts.

I have used the Vueroid 512GB and the Kingston Canvas Go Plus in 512GB and 1TB without any issues. I have had no issues with Viofo cards either, but they do seem to run a little warmer. I don't have a 512GB Viofo so I would be interested in reading about your experience with it.

Both high end dual 4 K systems and the T800 even have a cabin camera too.

The kingston cards have always been some of the cheapest memory cards here in Denmark, and they have also generally worked for me, though i did have a couple back in the 32 / 64 Gb days that died in what i felt was unreasonable short time.

And they still are it would seem.

I agree, we’ve been asking VIOFO to change the default Bitrate setting from Normal to Maximum.
Therefore, I choose 4K/60fps
60fps does not capture license plates better than 30fps.
RCG530, and I tested this December 2024 with (2) A329 Units side by side.
Vortex Radar confirmed this June 2025.
However, I still want 60fps option because it forces manufacturers to build a more powerful / robust dash cam.
1.) More processing power
2.) More heat dissipation capability
If customers never select 60fps option they still benefit from increased reliability / durability due to more powerful components, and greater heat dissipation capability.
Maybe one day we'll have the hardware & software that will allow 60fps to capture license plates better than 30fps.
Maybe @VUEROiD already has, I never got around to testing that with S1-4K.

Thanks for sharing. It was easier to understand VR's video because he summarized the findings for me vs. trying to compare 2 lengthy videos side-by-side. To summarize:
  1. 60fps isn't worse than 30fps for license plate visibility, but under most conditions 60fps isn't better at resolving license plates (i.e., what you said). Results will vary depending upon specific conditions.
  2. What is better than (60fps without HDR) for resolving license plates is (30fps + HDR). I personally plan to turn HDR back on.
