SJCAM SJ7 Star Cam - Real 4K Ambarella A12 Sony IMX117 Touch Screen Mic Gyro

a few hours ago i canceled my gearbest order, after the service agend told me that restock takes between 5-17 days....but he can not garante that i'm in the next shiping run.....

after i got the refund to my paypal i ordered the cam on banggod......and i'm happy tha a few minutes ago i recieved an email that the cam is ship'd

hopefully sjcam can get us a new fw, the reviews are just terrible^^

I hope for owners' sakes that they are more efficient with fw updates than they are at product delivery!

....i keep my fingers crossed.....i need a full working cam in may for or con.

gyro is not so important to me, most important are the 120fps full hd and (video)timelapse modes!

How about the other new cams with the A12? goprawn.com under ambarella cams has a subtitle for A12 cam and a list including Andoer C5 pro and eken h8/h9 plus?

Hi guys, We are finally back from the New Year holiday. I am looking forward to catching up on the threads on this forum.

Especially since we are improving SJ6 and SJ7 at the concurrently, please help us out and remember that if you have product suggestions, please use the SJ7 Request Form so everything is in one place. Once we have suggestions/fixes, we will translate for our firmware team. Using this form will speed up the firmware edits and keep progress organized.

In addition to the forum on the Official SJCAM site, we now have a private forum for SJ7 Testers Only.
Does the SJ7 Star have "super view resolutions"( 4:3 combined with 16:9)?

Some of the resolutions do have a SV suffix in settings. and 4:3 and 16:9 is also there.

Thanks , I wish the few sellers would show a more complete list when they advertize the cam!

SJCAM V1.0 First Realease

I have just been on your web site reading about the sj7 star The text calls the sensor as 117 and 16 MP
The SJCam web page for the SJ7 still says 117 and 16MP as of today, 15 February 2017. I went through all 14 pages of this thread and haven't seen a response from SJCam about your comment. Did I miss it? πŸ™‚

I don't think they answered the question why they don't accurately describe the sensor as 12.40 MP, and that photos upscale to 16MP, but I have not followed the thread!

I thought we had answered. The 16mp for photos is interpolated. The Video is Native 4k 12mp (not interpolated).

Description has been updated. Thanks for the reminder.

Thanks. Now perhaps you could contact online sellers and ask them to update their web pages accordingly. This includes, but is not necessarily limited to, Banggood, Everbuying, GearBest and Geekbuying.

On it 😎

SJ7 v1.04 Beta firmware ready for testing:
v1.04 Download

I downloaded the new FW update and installed it on my camera and it updated successfully. So far it's working smoothly and the one thing I noticed that now works correctly that wasn't mentioned in the release notes is that when you turn off the camera or even swap batteries it now remembers the settings you had last chosen instead of resetting to the default. It still forgets the time and date if you swap the battery though, although I did notice it automatically sets the time and date if you connect it to your phone with the wifi, I don't know if it always did that though. That is nice but it is still important that it can remember the date and time when the batteries are getting swapped and you don't have easy access to your phone. It also takes a few tries to get it to connect to the iOS App with the wifi, it eventually works but it takes a few tries. I'll record a video of it later.

I don't have an "official" test unit, but I got the SJ7 I ordered from banggood early and have been putting it to use as an action cam. Can I be added to the test group, I don't have any video expertise but I have lots of user interface/user experience suggestions and am willing to help bug test and record videos for others to examine. So far I am pretty happy with my SJ7 but look forward to it getting even better with future FW updates.

One suggestion I have for future FW updates would be to have some sort of Favorites/Bookmarks for your most used resolution settings. It's annoying to have to scroll between 4k 30FPS to 1080p 120FPS to 720p 240FPS, so it would be nice if you could choose 3 to 6 of your most used settings and have a separate favorites menu screen that just has the resolutions you picked to be on there and then from one screen you can select which resolutions you want to swap between.

Another suggestion to improve the video resolution selection screen could bet to break it up into 3 columns Resolution, FPS, and asspect ratio (16:9, 4:3, SV), then you could fit more options on one screen instead of scrolling through a long list you scroll each section quicker. It would be like the date set up where you have Year - Month - Day.

Thanks for your recommendations. We will log these into our features request doc. Hope to see you more here... also, let me know if you would like access to our private tester/developer forum here πŸ™‚

Awesome, thank you! Yes that would be great if you could add me to the private tester forum as well.

Have any of you noticed if the case gets scratched around the ports? I can never get the USB plug the right way 'round and always end up with scratches right around the port. I was also wondering if anyone has accidentally popped out the memory card? Lacking indentation around the ports I was wondering if that might be a problem.

Also, must you use the touch screen for navigation or do the buttons provide full redundancy? Can the touch screen be used while wearing winter gloves or diving gloves or must your fingers be bare?

EDIT: I'm assuming the waterproof enclosure door is touch sensitive.
