Suction cup mount for SG9665GC

Thanks Russ331, Pier28, and Sunny for the useful advice. I am still quite new into using DashCams (so far only 2 days) and will take your suggestions into consideration. Much appreciated!
dash cam manufacturers like jokiin don't spend heaps of time and cash designing a stealthy mounted cam for no reason, he could have easily just planted a huge suction cup and arm on it like a lot of other cams have but no, he has done the research, listened to poeple and found stealth is best and solidly mounted is best.

there is a need for suction cup mounted products, there are times when it's the right tool for the job, for someone that changes vehicles a lot, use in rental cars etc, this camera was never designed with this use in mind though

for changing vehicles a lot I would get a SGZC12SG as that is more suitable for that I have found.

Ultimately, we're recording evidence of our innocence

Dashcam is named dashcam, not video camera. :D

I would like to come in again here (pet peeve): a dash camera sits on the dashboard and records automatically when you start you car.
WHAT you use it for, is your business, and it's NOT necessarily, or only, to record traffic events.

So for those of us who wish to use it as an automatic, steady and discrete "video" camera, another angle of aim is more appropriate.
Of course exposure has to be adjusted towards more sky/landscape/buildings than tarmac, which is why the settings are available.

Please let us use our dashcams for "travel video" or our sportscams for "still nature" recordings, and don't assume everyone has the same needs.

Thank you and sorry being out-of-topic.

PS: I still hang it as high as possible, because when you're driving in mountains, there is still a lot happening below your car...

It's not about you & your niche usage of a dashcam. My comments were addressed to @ac2784 & reflected my assumption of the likely purpose for which he's installed the camera. If you were the OP of this thread you might have a valid point.

Suction cup mount for SG9665GC is good idea. But because of demand for it is way below of production vs demand calculations, it is hard to produce it for the price that suits customers.

@ac2784 aftermarket solution is quite itnresting for those who are in need of suction mount solution. Instead of adhesive tape I would use original 3M dual lock.

Fast forward over a year....is there a suction cup mount yet for the Street Guardian?

I just bought one, granted it's on me to research what's in the box....I'm actually scratching my head why there isn't a suction mount.

The SG9665GC is a glass hugging design to be as discrete and stealthy as possible for a wedge shaped dashcam. (Unlike low hanging traditional shaped systems out there) We include a second mount if you want to share it between two cars. It's more suited for a "set it and forget it" operation however. I've yet to see any wedge shaped glass hugging dashcam products include suction cups.

Here is a DIY option if you absolutely need a suction cup but it potentially won't be as stable of an image.

Coming from the Dexors X7, and previously a Papago GoSafe520, I'm surprised a suction mount with at least a flat surface isn't available. The flat surface could mount virtually any other mount with adhesive strips.

The issue is, the company I work for doesn't allow permanent fixtures on their equipment. Adhesive is basically permanent in regards to leaving the plastic mout attached. How do you keep removing adhesive and have it retain its adhesive properties?

With my Dexors, which has an excellent twist-lock suction mount, has a low profile design. I can mount or remove in just a couple seconds and is perfectly stable.

I believe you can still get a good stealthy design with a suction mount.
.
Just need to find a way to work them together.

I'm not trying to bash the Street Guardian, but I feel for the price, that a suction mount should at least be an option.

I sometimes drive different tractors, even so...I remove the dashcam everyday.....especially being a $200 unit.

Here's my Dexors mount next to the Street Guardian, then with the mounting point of the v3 on the flat surface of the Dexors mount

Replace the Dexors mounting tap with a quick release for the v3 dashcam and there would be room for the wires.

My concerns with a suction cup would be a) it failing and the unit falling/being damaged, b) the distance would be a lot greater from the device to the glass, so you might be more likely to get reflection/glare. c) The wire guard wont go on so the wires will be exposed and visible.

That looks like it would work, though.

I've seen some weak suction cups, but the one on the Dexors has crazy holding ability. I've tried to lift it off just to see at what point it gives....it doesn't give.

. the Suction cup mount is expensive but very versatile.

Maybe this one is a good option, lower cost and similar design as the Escort one.
