I received the 2014/04/14 firmware from the kind folks at E-Prance and I'm testing it out now. My mini 0801 is the with GPS logger/without internal memory flavor.

I'll report back after the sdcard fills up and see if the 5-min looping setting and sound still works. My previous firmware was 2014/01/16 which was working well and the 5-min loop (overwrite) seemed to work as long as I let the mini format the sdcard and I didn't mess with the files on the card.

On a side note, I noticed when I updated the firmware it reset my date setting to timezone GMT +8. Since I'm in the pacific timezone I first set it to -8, then realized that we're in DST so when I set it to -7 the GPS timestamp reports the correct local time.

How is It going with this firmware?

Could you send me the Firmware so I can add it to my repo?

So far, so good. I was using a 16GB sdcard before and when I updated the firmware I also updated to a 32GB sdcard so it hasn't filled up yet so I currently can't say if the loop feature is working OK. The loop feature was working for me with 2014/01/16.

i am using this firmware. I have no Map feedback in playback or speed travelled during playback. Are these firmware issues? The GPS data is logged in the GPS folder so the GPS function is turned on and working.

i have used 2 playback viewers with the same results Datakam Player & Dashcam Viewer

have gone into camera menu & turned G-SENSOR PRECISION OFF. Will this sort this issue out?

This ISSUE included in the earlier part of this thread.

I'm not sure why you were turning the G-Sensor off, do you see G-Sensor stats in the playback software?

playback software, Registrator Viewer or Dashcam Viewer show this info, mapping requires internet access but if the G-Sensor data is logged then it will display on playback

do you see the GPS signal on the LCD display when it's in the car and recording?

You should see GPS data in the top-left corner of the playback. I see this overlay (attached) on any player that views .MOV files. The attached picture was taken with the 2014/04/14 firmware.

I originally had 2014/01/16 firmware and both it and 2014/04/14 firmware sometimes write "empty" lines to the gps data files which can cause Registrator Viewer to not properly show map data. For example, if you had a gps data file snippet that looked like this:

A,050614,164112.000,4908.0069,N,12305.3736,W,31.82,-01.23,-12.86,+00.00;
A,050614,164113.000,4908.0066,N,12305.3874,W,32.50,+00.00,-11.03,+00.00;
V,,,,,,,,-02.45,-11.03,-01.23;
V,,,,,,,,-01.23,-09.19,+01.84;
A,050614,164116.000,4908.0057,N,12305.4299,W,34.04,-00.61,-11.03,+00.00;
A,050614,164117.000,4908.0055,N,12305.4447,W,34.97,+00.00,-11.03,+01.23;

Edit out all the "V,,,,,,,," lines so the file then looks like this:

A,050614,164112.000,4908.0069,N,12305.3736,W,31.82,-01.23,-12.86,+00.00;
A,050614,164113.000,4908.0066,N,12305.3874,W,32.50,+00.00,-11.03,+00.00;
A,050614,164116.000,4908.0057,N,12305.4299,W,34.04,-00.61,-11.03,+00.00;
A,050614,164117.000,4908.0055,N,12305.4447,W,34.97,+00.00,-11.03,+01.23;

After deleting all the "empty" lines I can get the map viewer app to correctly show my route/travel on the map.

I might have to pull out my old mini 0801 from retirement archives to test out this new firmware.
(just for kix, hate feeling defeated)

just stuck in front of the computer again so i thought i'd look at those GPS logs. Yes they all have V,,,,,,,,,,, in front of the log. The question is how do i edit them out? Using a mac here.

Do you have access to a Windows PC to try? Registrator Viewer for Windows should ignore the erroneous logs, not sure they have that sorted in the Mac version yet though
