Hello!
I bought 119 v2 with firmware 3.4.
I downloaded the firmware 3.6
I do according to the instructions - the settings are reset, the file disappears.
But the firmware remains 3.4

I changed the cable, reset the settings, changed the memory card, wrote it through the computer and through the card.
Tried to lower the firmware - it still remains 3.4.
I tried to update the bootloader - it did not help.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thank you, forgive my bad English.

What are the names of the firmware files you are putting on the SD card? Where did you get them from?

@Delmaro Please check your inbox message,we PM you the firmware already, and please have a try and back to me if any questions!

1. Rename original LDBA119.bin to LDA119S.bin
2. Update camera with renamed LDA119S.bin
3. Delete LDA119S.bin from the card
4. Update camera with FWBA119.bin
5. Update camera with original LDBA119.bin
6. Delete LDBA119.bin from the card

Why and when is this procedure needed? Please explain in more detail.

This procedure is needed only when:
I bought 119 v2 with firmware 3.4.
I downloaded the firmware 3.6
I do according to the instructions - the settings are reset, the file disappears.
But the firmware remains 3.4

Excellent! The firmware has been updated. Thanks and have a nice day!

Ok,and glad to hear that it works!

1. Rename original LDBA119.bin to LDA119S.bin

The situation for the user :
I can not update the firmware 119S.
There is 1.7 20170622. I throw to the map any version, the diodes do not blink, it boots as usual, but the settings are reset to default, the file FWA119S.bin is deleted from the card, the version does not change.
Tried LDA119S does not help.

After dancing with a tambourine, it was possible to update, but how it is not clear.
Can you write a procedure for 119S?

It is easy:
1. Rename original LDA119S.bin to LDBA119.bin
2. Update camera with renamed LDBA119.bin

4. Update camera with FWA119S.bin

Here are the instruction I sent my customer:

If you're not able to upgrade the firmware to 3.6 (nothing happens) here is the fix to get the camera back on track with the correct boot loader for all future updates.

http://support.viofo.com/support/solutions/articles/19000019600-viofo-a119-car-dash-camera-firmware

Download and save both of the following files to the root of the memory card

LDBA119.bin (This is a boot loader file that helps)
and
FWBA119.bin (This is the firmware file itself)

1. Rename LDBA119.bin to LDA119S.bin

2. Update camera firmware (power up camera, slow/fast RED LED flashes, reboots itself once complete)

3. Delete LDA119S.bin from the card

4. Update camera 2nd time with just FWBA119.bin on the card (re-download fresh copy or remember to save one before step 2)
This is will confirm future updates are good to go

PS, Here's another fun tip for Novatek based firmware updates.
Normally FWBA119.bin file will automatically be deleted after each update.
If you have multiple cameras to update one right after another this can be a pain.

All you need to do is right click, properties, and changed the Attributes to "Read-only" (for Windows)
This will keep the update from being deleted for multiple updates one right after another.

One more thing I found. If the firmware doesn't update the first time you plug power in and boots right up normal, here's what you do.

1) Press and hold the power button until it turns off.

2) Press the power button, It will turn on and you'll see the normal slow/fast blinking (as the update kicks in)

Some do this, some don't. I'm not sure why.
Once you finish this update you're good to go though for future updates.

This is an old thread but i just got an A119V2 with the 3.4 firmware. One thing to note is when I would follow the instructions on my PC it would just revert back to mass storage, the update to 4.01 didn't work until I found a wall adapter and booted off it instead.

If you're running into an issue loading the firmware and updating with a PC try using the wall plug so it doesn't go into mass storage mode. I just spent about an hour banging my head on this.

Funnily enough I just updated my new A119 V2 to 4.01 yesterday. Luckily I’d watched a YouTube video beforehand that suggested rebooting from a power socket rather than the PC, and pleased to say all went well.

I saw that video eventually and tried that.
