The VUEROiD S1 4K Infinite Has Arrived

@lufa6977 you said that you do the AI edit by selecting a file in the video editor then answering a few questions. Do those questions include your location, so that the software knows what type of licence plate to look for in your region?

I will be testing the S1-4K in the UK. I am curious to see if the software can tell the difference between regular licence plates and taxi identification plates.

Welcome to the testing, Tony. I look forward to your review, and I have been waiting for you to announce that. 🙂

The program does not request any personal or location information. Here are a few screenshots of the process. You will notice there is a daily limit for the number of AI events. The normal is 5 for users, mine is increased as I am a tester. When you get your S1-4K installed, DM me, and we will see about a link for you to download a tester's program.

Sorry for all the full-size images; I generally don't like placing this many large images in a post. You select the Video Editor from the left menu, drag in the file you want, click on AI Privacy Protection, then adjust the time line for what you want to capture, click on Run, wait for the four steps to complete, and then select if you want to see the video now or later. Very simple.

You can also select the SD Card from the menu, but you will need to have the SD card attached to your computer.

If I were to venture a guess, both are going to be blurred as the AI will have difficulty differentiating between the two plates. It may be a case where the AI will need trained to ignore small rectangular plates and a "region setting" be selected. That's my initial guess.

That would be an interesting test. We seldom have that scenario in the U.S., but it is not improbable. Since Tony has announced that he will be testing the S1-4K, perhaps he will encounter such a situation and test it for us.

That I do not know, perhaps a Vueroid representative will have that answer.

I highly suspect that @Vueroid will need to add a region setting to the APP and train the AI for specific countries upon global launching of the S1 4k Infinite. If I recall, the initial launch has been limited to the US, which means the sample size and consumer feedback is quite limited at the moment.

I'm curious to see if my speculative guess about @TonyM (UK) scenario proves accurate.

With a friend (or if you have a second vehicle), you could easily test this theory under quasi similar conditions. Pick up a European Novelty Plate from Amazon or elsewhere and temporarily affix to your vehicle's bumper. See how the camera handles the US Plate + European Plate together.

@Vueroid @qusejr2

Per the Human AI Facial Blurring and AI Learning, it might be beneficial to collect videos of:

1. People walking past the camera as the car remains stationary
2. People walking past the camera as the vehicle drives by them.
3. Due to size and height differences, videos of kids at play (on bicycle, running, etc)
4. Video of People Jogging as car remains stationary and driving
5. Adults riding a bicycle past camera

I'm not sure how the facial blurring handles different ethnicities. Do people of darker skin get blurred equally to those of a lighter complexion?

Food for thought.

The AI will have fun in Germany with all the different plate sizes.
I will check this.

Let's hope they trained it good enough!

Julian ... I look forward to reading about your experience with the S1-4K. 👍

I wanted to share that in the future, if all cables and connectors are standardized, it will be much easier for customers to simply swap out their dashcams. This change would eliminate installation costs and reduce the time and effort involved, especially when installing rear cameras.

I disagree with that statement. As a company that also installs dash cameras we will not use any existing cables unless we installed it previously. Behind panels you have no idea how it was installed prior. This is very much like the push from European Union to standardize phone to USB-C. Many people may like it but the creativity of a dash cameras manufacturer is then limited. Having the option of USB-C and 12 volt barrel allows the dash camera companies to be creative. Also allows for different rear cameras. 1080p, 2K, 4K or who knows what they have planned. I understand the thinking. I just disagree with it.

Another point is the amount of data being carried over the cables. For instance, the Vantrue N5S is 4 channels. I tested the N4 Pro S cable (already installed in my vehicle). It was only capable of providing 3 channels of the 4. The missing rear channel appeared as a black scree. Lo and Behold, the proper cable that came with the N5S worked fine.

You then have design differences among manufacturers of dashcams which necessitate cables of varying thickness.
