Transcend DrivePro 200 Wi-Fi FullHD Dash Camera ( Drive Pro )

Hi Russ, it's a self signed SSL certificate generated by myself which is why you get that message, it's fine.

I just don't have port 80 open which is why http is blocked.

I started downloading but it is a painfully slow server... You might be better off uploading your raw video file to Mega like russ suggested...

Ah sorry I've just been uploading everything to Dropbox which is why it was probably slow - it was 20Mbps so shouldn't have been too bad, but they're all hosted on Dropbox now - two day videos and two night videos:

Hopefully you folks should be able to download these now - these are totally untouched and raw out of the device.

I've had to turn down the G Shock sensor to low as it was triggering constantly on medium. The night videos don't look too bad - but in terms of reading number plates none of the videos seem that good. Is this the sort of thing to expect at this price range or are these looking pretty bad? They look upscaled to me or old phone videos.

I should have the Ambarella A7 based device tomorrow or Thursday so at least I'll be able to see the difference first hand.

Ah thanks Russ, I do have HID headlights so that explains the issues I'm seeing there with the numberplates then!

I'm not sure if you were using VLC (http://www.videolan.org/) but that is good at playing most file formats and what I tend to use - I didn't even realise Apple were still trying to sell QuickTime - thought it had died years ago!

I'm waiting for Transcend to come back to me about some other issues I've seen so depending on what they say I may return the camera if they think there's a fault. It was bought directly from Amazon, not a third party seller so hopefully it is genuine.

If it's sold by & fulfilled by Amazon, then it's pretty much assured to be genuine. I see that nearly all of the 33 customer reviews are favourable...

Some dashcam videos play better on RegistratorViewer than for example my default VLC or other favourite my KMPlayer.

I saw the video and, judging from previously posted videos, the quality seems to be as expected. I agree it does not look like 1080p but rather more like 720p. Nevertheless, due to the previously shared videos, it doesn't seem you got a faulty or fake unit. The shakiness is probably coming from the way the camera is mounted. Try other mounting solutions (if feasible) to see if the shaking stops. If you decide to return the camera, you might be better off looking for cameras that have proven video quality like the Panorama II which you can get for around £110.

Thanks folks - funny you should mention the Panorama II as I was looking at that earlier! The Sony sensor in some of these devices seems a massive step up.

Transcend have replied asking that I upgrade to v1.19 to see if that gives any improvements - I've done that but haven't had chance to test the device out again so will do that later.

I don't really see the point in devices that upscale video as the quality is shocking compared to some of the native 720p devices I've seen.

Interestingly I've been going through videos this evening and noticed the Youtube clips all seem better - so I've uploaded the raw footage from the previous links and it does seem to play better on my laptop than the raw file, probably due to the post processing it does.

The camera has been upgraded to v1.19 but still has poor quality.

As an example, here's a comparison of the DrivePro on 1.19 against the A7 GS6000 that landed today (on stock firmware SM3H2FDGC.131028.V1)

Techmoan review on YouTube:

Mini 0803 will likely still be my go to dash camera since the form factor and discreetness is still the most important aspect for me right now.

I am happy with performance, built quality and easy of use of drivepro. Very good video qualiry day and night.Over 2 month with no glitches.
For this price its bargain considering well known brand, finctions ( wifi ), performance and local market aftersales service.

Niko, do you have pictures of how it looks in your car? Or your usual comparisons of the camera next to other popular models?

Yes I do. Will post soon. Its actually not that bad as you might think.

Thats how it looks installed in my car.
Pay attention - rearview mirror in my car is close to the ceiling. In majority of other cars RVmirror is always 1-2inch below ceiling, so in this case Drivepro would be hidden behind RVmirror.
Also, as you can see, the bracket mount arm is way to long ( in my opinion ). It should be shorter.
Good thing is that you can use many other dashcams low profile bracket /mounts ( 3M or suction mount ) which are compatible with Dod LS300W-type dashcams.
Silver ring around lens housing can be covered with black electrical tape ( quick solution ), or you can paint it black.
