My google play sees just one result, Vantrue Cam. Anyway, this is the app.

Here is what my Google Play search shows. But when I scan the QR code in the manual it directs me to the Vantrue app (bottom). I'm not sure what the difference is.

The same company wrote it.
Vantrue Cam has a poor 1-star rating. It only had 2 reviews.
Vantrue has no reviews.

I use the Vantrue Cam app, on IOS, and it works well doing configuration or even replaying a video once downloaded to the phone but it loses the plot eg doesn't work when trying to watch a video that's still in the dashcam.

The Vantrue app may be for China?

The person who advised you is lacking accuracy as they are the same app.

On the Google store Vantrue Cam has been download 10K whereas the Vantrue app 1K

They are exactly the same program on the iPhone.
130.7 MB each.

The Vantrue app has less updated information than the Vantrue Cam app.

The QR codes on the side of the S2 box scan for different app names.
iPhone version is the Vantrue Cam app while the Google app is called Vantrue.

I don't think it will help Vantrue telling customers misinformation.

Perhaps @Vantrue Dash Cam @Jeff_Vantrue might like to clarify.

I just checked with the QR code on the E3 box. The Google Play link goes to the "Vantrue" App too. 1000 downloads.

They are exactly the same program on the iPhone.

Interesting that the iPhone apps are so big. The Android app is only about 32MB for each version.
