I received an email that there was a reply to my msg#14, but I do not see it in the thread. Was it deleted? Anyway, I will answer the questions that came through in the email notification.
"I'm confused.....
When your car is turned on, the camera is SUPPOSE TO RECORD at all times.
Answer these questions precisely.
1. When you turn on your car, does the camera boot up and turn on? YES
2. When you turn off the car, does the camera turn off? NO
3. If the camera DOES NOT turn off when you shut down the car, DID YOU GO TO MENU SETTINGS and DISABLE:
A. Collision Detect Disabled
B. Motion Detection Disabled
C. Low Bitrate Disabled
D Low Framerate Disabled
Grey = Disabled and Green = Enabled."
Everything associated with Parking Mode disabled, the camera simply stays on and recording as if the car were still running. The ONLY way that it stops normal recording mode, is if I enable any of the above Parking Mode functions... then it turns the screen off and records motion or whatever, because I can view it an hour or two later, and see what happened in the interim. So, there is NO automatic "OFF" functionality. I have to either press and hold the power button on the far left, unplug the USB C connection, or pull the device away from it's magnetic mount. Again, if that's not how it's supposed to work, then my unit is clearly defective!
