VIOFO A229 Plus FIRMWARE

Thank you . got it working now. i formatted the 128 gb card in the camera. Then I downloaded the newest firmware supplied by Viofo support. I found that when I put the firmware on the card in windows it was copying a system folder as well,so I deleted that from the folder and then it went straight on and updated the cameras firmware. Now it is running the latest firmware . So thanks to Viofo and Accomplished_Arm_447, for the help.

New firmware for the rear camera: V1.3.1_250421 is on the firmware page:

New firmware for the main camera: V1.4_250918 is on the firmware page:

1. Added: Long-press menu button for 2 seconds to enter the menu.

2. Added: Display vehicle voltage value in the video with HK6 hardwire cable.

3. Fixed: Other minor bugs.

There is nothing I don't like about V1.3 version. I just wanted to let all know that V1.4 is not for the rear
It's tempting to leave well-enough alone when the camera is behaving. But I wonder if there could be a problem if the phone App updates without a necessary FW revision? Iphone Apps are suppose to update automatically if so configured.

Anyone else having and issue with the 1.4v firmware. I have flashed mine twice so far and even did a factory reset but after about a day and a half I am getting a random format card error. No I do not have reminders turned on. Yes I pulled the card and did a low level format and then formated it with the guiformat tool as well. This was a recently new card (256gb) Viofo sent me a few months back to replace a card that was having that issue, and it has been working fine till I updated. Yes I am using the cable that came with the camera and yes the charger as well. @VIOFO-Support @viofo

Anyone have the old 1.3 version so I can see if I revert back to that one if the memory error stops happening?

I swapped in a new card. Waiting to see if it happens with the new card. If it does im going to revert back to 1.3 and see what happens from there. Ill keep you posted in the next few days.

I loaded V1.4 on Nov 5 and have not experienced any random format card messages.

I assume you mean the camera is randomly to format the card as opposed to reboot issues.

Camera will randomly give a warning to please format card after a day or two. So far a new card has been working. Thinking back it seems like every time I pull the sd card out of the camera put it in a card reader, connect to my laptop, and load on new firmware to flash the cam right after that it happens and continues to happen even after a low level format of the card to try and fix it. I have used 4 sd cards so far. 3 viofo and 1 vantrue. Not sure if they are using a weird allocation size and format type from factory but they never seem to work after even when I format them.

Updated my firmware, is there an updated manual somewhere?

I used to be able to power off my camera when in parking mode (for when parking in my garage or friends place), by holding the menu button. I tried that after a firmware update and it didnt seem to work.

Is there an updated list of shortcuts?

You have to wake the screen up first by tapping the menu button, then long press it to power off.

Once you wake up the display, a long press should first bring up the menu settings, but continuing to hold it (don't let go) should power it off

Hmm, I tried that this morning but didnt work (which is the way it worked before the update). I'll try again this afternoon. I wait until i hear 'parking recording starting', then tap the menu button to wake the screen, then hold the menu button (until i hear a beep) to power off. This morning that didn't seem to work

Why do you wait for it to enter parking mode to power it off if you are home? I'm not saying it won't work, just wondering.
Perhaps you are not waiting long enough when you hold the menu button down?
The BTR200 is a better option for powering off.

Ahh, had to hold the button for 10secs vs the 4secs before the update.

Also is geofencing now part of the update? I just noticed it today (i updated via the new app)

@viofo With geofencing, i park underground, is there anyway to retain last coordinates for parking location? (Ie i lose GPS when going underground, but if i can use the last known GPS location for parking/geofencing center, could that work)?
