The A229 Plus and A229 Pro firmware updates that updated the front camera firmware to v1.3.1_241024 and the rear camera firmware (same for both models) to v1.3_241022 seems to have introduced a bug related to parking mode rear camera delayed recording startup and filename suffix sequence number assignment issues [out of order]. I reported this issue to VIOFO and they are investigating the issue. On Monday, I supplied additional info to VIOFO regarding the A229 Plus rear camera low bitrate parking mode issues.
I updated my A229 Pro 2CH (with rear camera) to the same updated versions (front) v1.3.1_241024 (for the A229 Pro) and (rear) v1.3_241022. Today, I drove my car with the A229 Pro and the same issue occurred with that configuration.
Issue 1: Delayed rear camera recording start during [low bitrate] parking mode
A229 Plus - Low Bitrate Example 1 - Delayed Recording Start
Note the filename timestamps for the front and then for the corresponding rear camera video file. The A229 Plus rear camera starts recording four (4) seconds after the front camera. That same offset file rotation persists during the entire parking mode session. When I examine the video contents of the files, the rear camera is truly offset by four (4) seconds from the front camera.
A229 Plus - Low Bitrate Example 1 - Odd filename sequence number assignment
Typically, the front video file's sequence number for the filename suffix is 'n'. The initial 'n' value for parking mode is usually the highest sequence number used during normal recording mode with one (1) added to it. The rear video file's sequence number for its filename suffix is 'n+1'.
In this example, the first low bitrate front camera video filename sequence number is 1054. The first low bitrate rear camera video filename sequence number is 1056. Sequence number 1055 isn't used until the first front camera file rotation occurs. That same odd sequence number assignment pattern continues during the entire parking mode session.
When the A229 Plus (or Pro) returns to normal recording mode, the sequence number assignments are sequential as you would expect them to be:
A229 Pro - Example:
The same odd low bitrate filename suffix sequence number issue that occurred with the A229 Plus 2CH (with rear camera) occurred during both low bitrate parking sessions for the A229 Pro 2CH. The rear camera starting to record a few seconds (3) after the front camera occurred during the second low bitrate parking mode session, but not the first. I only drove my car to the local post office and to a local store before returning home. The entire trip lasted less than one hour.
Here is a listing of files created by the A229 Pro 2CH (with rear camera) during the two low bitrate parking mode sessions:
Here is a listing of files created by the A229 Pro 2CH during the normal recording sessions. The odd sequence number issue does not occur during normal recording mode, only during [low bitrate] parking mode.
