VIOFO A229 Pro FIRMWARE

I had a warm day this week. I left the parking lot at a temperature of +27 degrees Celsius
and returned at +32 degrees Celsius. In total I was away for 4.5 hours.
Neither on the move nor in the parking lot, the A229 Pro and VS1 never meowed. The longest parking was 1.5 hours.
The sun was not shining on the A229 Pro and VS1, but it was hot in the cabin. :shock:
After returning home, I parked the car so that the sun was shining on the A229 Pro. I locked the car and went home.
An hour and a half later he came to check. The A229 Pro worked as it should in parking mode. The temperature outside showed +29 degrees Celsius. You can imagine or calculate what temperature was in the cabin.

I found one change that is not mentioned in the change log for the v1.3_240612 front camera firmware. The video resolution for the front camera in low bitrate parking mode will remain 3840x2160 with this firmware. Previous firmware versions, the front camera video resolution in low bitrate parking mode would drop to 2560x1440.

I had this issue and I udpated the firmware, powered it off and on with the button and it came back up normal.

Is this future firmware or is it only for those who have a problem with the screen! I don't have a problem with the screen, thank God, can I install it for a test?

This firmware was sent by Viofo support to a person who has problems with the screen.
Wait for the new firmware to appear on the download site.
What is wrong with the latest official firmware?

I didn't say it had anything on the latest official firmware, I asked if I could install this one for testing!
 
Martin, go ahead and install it, if you don't like it, you'll return yours.
There are a lot of changes in the firmware compared to FWA229P_V1.3_240612
It's not just for the screen!!

I haven't tried it.
MOD4 from user Dex_ works fine for me.
 
I have the latest iPhone app - v4.2.5 - and it cannot connect to server to download FW.
VIOFO does not like Canadians?

Interesting. I can confirm if just running the app and tapping the three horizontal line menu option and selecting Fireware does result in an Unable to connect to the server message.
Unsure if it used to do that or actually load the server

EDIT:
Did a little bit of network analysis.
I see a call trying to get a response from http://192.168.1.254/?custom=1&cmd=3016 which I would take a guess is the app trying to find the dashcam when the phone is connected to it via WiFi. This call fails, as I am not connected to the dashcam wifi.
Another call I see is to this url:https://viofo.com/download/firmware/A229Pro/filedesc.xml and it's getting a 404 error so that'd explain the error dialog. If I try and view the xml data fields I get a message about failing to parse the data, premature end of file, so that could explain the failure, or it might simply be the format of the file is not something the viewer software understands.

So the app cannot connect to the server when it is not connected to the dashcam, and cannot connect to the server while it is.

Why would VIOFO don’t just publish the new FW?

No. These are 2 different problems.
App not being able to connect to server and check for FW update is one issue, and it must be solved regardless
FW being delayed from public release - that’s another issue. Maybe some last minute regression was discovered? However, personally I would expect VIOFO to focus on the new toy (which seems a bit underwhelming)… maybe they simply prioritizing new FW release for the new camera instead of in-field?

Yea Privacy Mode and Super Night version are intriguing, some more info on these would be good.
 
Super night "version" sounds like a typo in translation..... Super night "vision" would be my guess. perhaps they have changed the "version" of Super Night Vision
 
Super Night Vision is probably the 1fps timelapse SNV parking mode that appeared on the new A329, now available on A229 Pro and Plus
