I purchased a 3CH Viofo A229 Pro, and I wonder whether the interior camera plugging and unplugging the interior cam from 3.5mm jack switches from 2CH operation and 3CH operation automatically.
Post in thread 'Will USB-C socket power camera?' https://dashcamtalk.com/forum/threads/will-usb-c-socket-power-camera.54168/post-648876Has anyone tested A229 PRO 3CH with ACC HK3 for correct parking mode operation? I'm upgrading from A119 v3 to A229 PRO 3CH and wouldn't like to rewire ACC HK3 to ACC HK4. I'd like to use an adapter miniUSB to USB type C, which would be the simplest...
I have a Vantrue E1 Pro as my front dash cam. I am now looking for a rear dash cam. After testing what was the conclusion?I kind of disagree.
The BTR200 Remote will power off the camera. It can be used before entering parking mode. When you get back home, what’s the most efficient way to power off the A229 Pro after it has entered parking mode? When I press the Power/Menu button, it doesn’t work the first time; only on the second press, when I press and hold it longer, does the camera power off. The downside is that this button also seems to act as a ‘protect video’ button, creating protected files in the RO folder.
(Single long-press doesn't work either. It sort of needs one short press to wake up the screen, then long-press to switch off the cam.)
Hmm that's fine I have those! You probably mean to assign a function on the side-buttons. I remember for one I have HDR on/off. I will need to have a look! Thanks. The BTR200 Remote will power off the camera. It can be used before entering parking mode.
yes assign a side button to "Power Off"Hmm that's fine I have those! You probably mean to assign a function on the side-buttons. I remember for one I have HDR on/off. I will need to have a look! Thanks.
I have the 2 channel A229 Pro also, and I mistakenly ordered the interior camera on eBay thinking I could just add it to this setup (the manual also showed it as an optional add-on) but I now realize that since this is a 2 channel model then I would have to disable the front or rear camera when using the interior camera also ...is that correct? Is disabling the cameras possible through the camera menu (or app) or do I have to just unplug the USB power cable from the camera itself? Or does plugging in the interior camera automatically disable the rear camera?I have a 2 channel A229 Pro, second channel being the IR Interior camera. When plugging in and unplugging the interior camera, I will hear a 1 channel or 2 channel recording started kind of notification. You will need to have notifications turned on to hear it. Adding or removing channels also changes resolution.
You should not have to disable anything to add the optional interior camera. The A229 Pro rear camera connects via the USB-C port on the upper left side of the front camera. The interior camera connects via the round connector end of the interior camera cable to the "Int" connector port on the middle right side of the front camera. Thanks for that info. Just to confirm, if I install the interior camera, I can run 3 channels moving forward? (lufa6977's earlier reply confused me). It's the same camera head used for 1 2 or 3 channels. It was called a 2 channel camera because when you ordered it, the rear camera was included in the box.
Yes you can definitely run 3 channels with the A229 Pro if you install the interior cameraThanks for that info. Just to confirm, if I install the interior camera, I can run 3 channels moving forward? (lufa6977's earlier reply confused me).
@rcg530 , so it looks like Time-lapse @ 10fps consistently gives the longest recording time during parking mode. Perhaps a silly question (due to my own ignorance), but would Time-Lapse @ 1fps conserve the battery further? However, I'm thinking you didn't include that parameter because maybe 10fps is the most usable of the Time-Lapse subparameters?Power Consumption Test Data

I believe the power draw for time-lapse 1fps will be ever so slightly lower than 10fps. If I remember correctly, time-lapse 1fps super night vision [SNV} was added to the A229 Pro. The SNV version of time-lapse 1fps does reduce the power draw a bit more. I haven't gone back and retested the A229 Pro power consumption for SNV, but on other models that added time-lapse 1fps SNV it did reduce the power consumption even further.@rcg530 , so it looks like Time-lapse @ 10fps consistently gives the longest recording time during parking mode.
