There's a cool trick to reuse the A139 Pro's front/rear cable with the A329 series. It just requires an adapter for the different sized connectors. Check this out:

As a major reseller of dashcams, will you do road testing and bench testing to check for reliability? Curious, because "functions" and "Works" are of course not mutually synonymous!

Hoping proof of concept goes well! So much easier than ripping out cabling.
 
The question belies does their old cable and new cable carry the same amount of data via the coax? As I believe they are different widths.

I'd be curious to see if this works reliably or ends up causing issues with the 3 channels sending data utilizing the A139 cabling vs the A329 Cabling.
The both use RG174 coax cable, it's just the end connectors that are different - so should be no difference.

Another alternative is to re-cap the ends but that would require crimping, soldering and heat shrinking (replacing the end connectors) - but that isn't going to be feasible by most users and would be easier just to swap out the cables.
A female MMCX to male MCX adapter would be the quickest option. Either an all in one end connector adapter, or one with a small cable, where you could tuck away the extra length so the cable left on show would just look like a normal cable that's not been extended.

But also looking at @indigo thread, they have tried various coax cable thickness and all work the same.

My A139 cable is actually a little thinner than the A229 cable, but they are both RG174 specification, possibly a different manufacturer, shouldn't make any difference.
 
What do you mean? Is the stock cable in the A329 not very good? I think people here are trying to see ways to modify and fit the A139 cable to the A329.
Yes, that's what he's currently doing.
Converting the smaller A139 cable to fit the A329 so that you don't need a full reinstall - just add converter cables to each end of their current set up.

I have not tried the newer A139 models but the original one for sure was a fine camera too for what it was, never any problems with it.
I do also like it have its connections on top VS on the side on more traditional wedge systems

Do like the coax cables too, as a matter of fact when my IP camera or NVR die, i an contemplating moving to a CCTV system with similar cables instead of RJ45 network cables.
 
At 4:40 you could show again on the screen the HK4 with the 4 voltage cuts to explain better.

What you did at 8:22 you should do also when HK4 was connected. Right now some people can understand that impact mode is working only with HK6.

Regarding voltage cut, I consider the 12.0V of HK6 is the latest option in App because in this way you will have some voltage buffer between 12.0V and 11.8V to be used by the LPID mode after the camera switched from normal parking mode to LPID mode.

At 8:39 you should explain more what is the benefit of HK6 compared to HK4, as something like I wrote above. So, when using HK4, after the voltage cu set by the button the LPID stop working.
And now what I expect from HK6: when using HK6 you can have some voltage difference between the App set-up and HK6 set-up. For example if you want a longer LPID you can set on HK6 the 11.8V and on the App the 12.4V. If the cut off time stopped at 12V for example, the HK6 must remain in LPID mode until the HK6 reach 11.8V. I dint tested this behavior because I dont have right now the needed tools.

My comments are only about this video. If you want people to watch what you said in other videos you should offer some links. You can not expect that all people to watch all your videos, people are choosing what is interesting for them.

The HK6 adds no real value. It is the most misunderstood accessory.That even when you explain clear as day it is still misunderstood. In my opinion with all the newer vehicles on the market and the voltage cutoff feature is the most dangerous feature of all parking mode cables.

Especially being that it has no higher voltages like Korean manufacturers are supporting. But maybe @viofo will update that with higher voltage cutoffs.

You may be thinking that 11.8, 12, 12.2, and 12.4 are good. But tgere are newer lithium batteries that sit at 14 volts now. 12.8 is considered dead on a lot of these newer more expensive car batteries.

However recently we found out the cutoff timer does not work in Low Power Impact detection. Which we are not too impressed with either. Maybe @viofo will look at fixing that. Hence why call it a cutoff timer if it does not work. In Hybrid parking mode I understand it not working other modes it should.

Been holding off on the full A329s review. But I think it is time Viofo has had too long to correct the challenges we pointed out….

I have a new Kia EV3 electric car, and I obviously don't want the battery to run out.
What settings should I set on the kit and the camera?
I'm interested in recording the parking lot for a couple of hours.
When you say Viofo might update it with higher voltage cutoffs, are you talking about the software camera settings or the hardware settings in the kit?

You'd likely need to refer to dealer or manual of your vehicle for that answer.

On a a regular non hybrid vehicle

12.6 = 100% Battery
12.4== 75 % Battery
12.2 = 50% Battery
12.0 = 25% battery
11.8 = Battery Dead

Generally 12.2 or 12.0 (although if your live in a cold climate you may have issues at 12.0)....

But these figures aren't applicable to a Battery Election Vehicle.

My comments are specifically about some newer vehicles that have 14 volt lithium batteries. Having an EV has nothing to do with this as an EV battery is similar to a gas tank. We are not affecting your gas tank.

I am concerned about people using low voltage cutoff portion of parking mode incorrectly on these vehicles which have lithium batteries.

I am hoping Viofo looks at adding higher voltage cutoffs only for this one setting. All other settings do not matter. If you use cutoff timer.

If you are unaware of your car battery. Go out with a multimeter and measure it with ignition off. Then you will know.

To further answer your question we recommend 3 hour cutoff timer and low bitrate. We find most people will never have any issues with those settings.

If all you're getting on a BEV vehicle is 3 hours of parking mode, it's time to invest in a dedicated battery park. 3 Hours won't even cover your vehicle sitting in a parking lot over a normal work day, is likely insufficient to take a stroll somewhere, etc.

I'm not sure on what vehicles you would be able to wire a hardwire kit to a lithium battery instead of a lead acid battery?

But if you did, then with most lithium batteries, the voltage is dependent on temperature as well as state of charge, and for LiFePO4, most of the state of charge range is more dependent on temperature than SoC, so:

I am not convinced that would give a reliable solution, in Canada you would need to change your setting for winter, probably several times per night:

Decent LiFePO4 chargers have a thermometer and temperature compensation built in, so I guess the HK7 could have too... Maybe it can record the temperature on screen, next to the voltage overlay...
