Viofo A329T (unboxing & first impressions) (Sony Starvis 2 IMX678, Wi-Fi 6/GPS, HDR, Novatek NT98530, 4K front + 2.5K telephoto + 2.5K rear, HDR all)

If that's true, and I've seen what's in the box he opened, then the photos on the landing page and for each product page don't help.

The Front + Rear 2CH shows a remote camera with no vents:

But any other variant that includes a rear camera shows a unit with vents, such as this one:

Well that's just confusing then. Website guy must be having a headache with all the variants too haha

Initial firmware versions are up for A329S, A329T and A329WW.

Please note that these are what are being loaded onto retail units that are being shipped to customers. No other changes are present at this time.

Holy moly! 70mai just released the T800 with dual IMX678 4K front and rear…
There is a thread for this... (in the 70mai board)...

If you want to use the telephoto lens for the A329, please check with our support first and leave a message, there is a special version for A329.

Other improvements are the parking mode, like low power impact mode.
I have A329 2Ch originally with normal rear camera. After then I purchase RTC400 Tele for A329 (and leave rear camera unused).
There was not available CPL filter for this RTC400 at this time when I purchase it (from Taobao in China and Viofo official seller).
Now after I move to my home land in EU I have send letter to Viofo Customer support for ask what CPL filter is now or later available for RTC400.

Viofo support answer was "interesting". They claim that there is not any RTC400, this product do not exist at all. What a hell...

Is it a situation in Viofo where the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing? Or what is going on...

And A329S do not have variant Front + Tele + Interior 210 degree wide. (in my case rear camera is 119mini2)

A329S do not have variant Front + Tele + Interior 210 degree wide.
Viofo have said they will offer this option in a few weeks time

@viofo If i try to purchase the a329t and ship Poland the webpage declines to do so. Is there any chance to add Poland to the countries you ship to?
VIOFO Support answer: We have closed the shipping channel to Poland as we have an agreement with our distributor in Poland.

As long as the Polish distributor honors the VIOFO pricing and sale pricing that should be OK, I would think.

No one really knows. Most likely, the Polish distributor wanted to avoid parallel imports from China and negotiated terms that allow them complete freedom in setting prices for VIOFO products.
To me, it smells like monopolistic practices.

Is it just one redistributor in Poland?

Viofo's Polish website suggests quite a few different outlets

Yes, the link you provided points to a distribution network, which means that every company still has to purchase directly from VIOFO Poland. VIOFO China sells exclusively to VIOFO Poland, so it all comes full circle

Yes, I dislike such practices. Some years ago, I had an issue with a U.S. distributor of an European product. I simply did not like the individual and his nasty disposition. I attempted to buy the equipment from Europe but was denied the sale. They were trying to force me to buy from the U.S. distributor. I later sent them a photo and receipt of a competing manufacturers equipment that I had purchased. I do not care for a company to back me against a wall.

It is more likely that Viofo don't speak Polish very well, and it makes more sense to have an enthusiastic local company sort out the marketing, TV adverts, etc., than for Viofo China to do it from China, or to set up a local Viofo office in Poland. There can be advantages to both companies.

Everyone knows that Poland is in the EU, so customers can buy from anywhere in the European Economic Area (including Iceland etc. who are not in the EU), so there is still decent competition on prices, and no reason to worry about monopolies.

There has been a firmware update released for the Viofo A329T (and neighbouring A329x variants), taking it from V1.0_250510 to V1.1_250613.

Changelog:
- fixed: some bugs

Viofo has also provided detailed instructions of how to load a different bootloader onto your particular A329x variant, to change it from one type to the other (e.g. A329T to A329S, and vice-versa)

@viofo @VIOFO-Support have used what is not quite an accurate word in that bootloader instruction. 🙂

This is the firmware for users who want to upgrade from A329S to A329T. Please do the following steps. 1. Format the SD card first. 2. Download the two bin files above (FWA329T.bin and LD98530A.bin) simultaneously into the root directory of the card. 3. Put the card back into the camera and use the original car charger to power the camera, the camera will turn on and record automatically. 4. Replug the power cable or long-press the power button to reboot the camera. You will see the power light flicking, which means the camera is updating. After finishing, the camera will turn on automatically, then please check if the firmware version is updated.

This really is not an upgrade, but is a conversion from one variant to another variant. Not technically an upgrade as each variant is technically equivalent, and quality consistent to each other. Using the word "upgrade" could cause the less astute purchaser to wonder if they had bought a quality dash cam. Words are everything when it comes to conveying the proper meaning.

Totally agree, that's why I never referred to that part as an upgrade haha. As you said, it's a conversion. I would call it a sidegrade to be honest. Options are options which is good for the end user

Arguably it is an upgrade if a user adds a telephoto to an existing 1CH or 2CH A329S. Whatever they call it, asking users to deal with .bin files will not sit well with everyone. What about customers who only have an iPhone?
