VIOFO HK6 Hardwire Cable - Test & Review PP

What are the types of the connectors used by the body of HK6? I am interested more about the male connectors.

Thank you!
Do you think these connectors are the same? Searching about Molex is giving only few results with connectors but not also with pins or cables attached like the ones from my link.
The idea is to use the actual HK4/HK5 cables, and the place only the HK6 unit instead of HK4/HK5 unit.

Those connectors look the same, but they are only 20AWG.
The ones I showed you were 18AWG, so you can use larger wire.
Maybe I can make you a custom cable with high quality 100% OFC Copper wire, (not CCA), and send it to you for free, (you just pay the shipping).

You can have Hybrid Parking Mode and that LPID with any Viofo dashcam if using the future Viofo OBD power cable. One thing that will missed will be the set-up of the cut-off voltage on the App or on the OBD device. The device will cut off the voltage at 11.8V but you can still set the cut-off timer on the App or if you don't want on the App you have on the device the 3h, 48h, ∞ values. But I expect the wake up of the dashcam to be longer compared to A329S and original LPID mode.

I’ll make a separate thread just for the OP-100.
This thread is only for the HK6.

What version of bluetooth does the hk6 use?

I ask because newer version can use much less energy called BLE also referred to as Bluetooth LE.

In an earlier post buy @Chuck McCoy the onscreen bluetooth detection shows it has a number. I wonder if that number is unique to each hk6?

IMG_1472.webp

If it is then the dashcam could prompt to pair with it. If there are many hk6 in the vacinity it might show a list and you pick one. I guess the number would also have to be written on the hk6 somewhere for identification.

This would prevent the odd behaviour @Vortex Radar mentioned.
Is that's still an issue as i haven't read anyone else mentioning this?
Perhaps because it's not in the wild yet. I don't have any hk6's to test or the A329xyz models hence the questions.

In regards to identifying how long the time it takes to see the bluetooth signal at the dashcam, it may be much faster if booting process is removed.
What I'm saying is it seemed to be ready as soon as the dashcam had finished starting.
HK6 Bluetooth Connection Speed Test
Q: How long does it take the HK6 to establish Bluetooth connection?
A: Around 7 seconds.

Only @viofo can answer.
I'm not sure it matters much, since it transmits the voltage every second. Bluetooth LE is designed for battery powered devices like the remote button that transmit a few times per day and run on a single battery for years.

I think it is very likely that the HK6 is BLE, and the remote button almost certainly is. Which version of BLE, I would not like to guess! I believe we are up to 5.4 now, but the HK6 is unlikely to be using the latest...

C’mon Nigel.
Your post is basically off topic spam.
It adds zero value to the discussion.
I’m going to request it be deleted.

LateralNW‘s question;
“What version of bluetooth does the HK6 use?” is a valid question, just like asking what version of Wi-Fi a dash cam has.
Since I don’t know I said;
“Only Viofo can answer”.

From now on when you post in my threads I would really appreciate it if you only post facts.
No theory.
No conjecture.
No what ifs, etc.

However, if you have something legitimately funny that’s also “on topic” that everyone would appreciate to lighten the mood I think that would be great.
This is my hobby, and I want to have fun doing it.
But posts like yours make it difficult for guests / new members just looking for cold, hard facts.
And if you make one more post about the Remote Bluetooth Button in this thread that’s about the HK6, you're going to drive me to drink.
Can you tell I woke up grumpy again? lol

@SafeDriveSolutions
Q: How do you test / confirm Bluetooth Signal if you suspect a defective HK6, or malfunction?
A:

1.) Download your favorite Bluetooth Signal finder from the APP Store;
2.) Power Up HK6
3.) Confirm Red Status LED
4.) Open APP
5.) Start Scanning
6.) Click on HK6 for device info & Signal Strength

I just received an HK6 in a retail box. It was interesting to see there's absolutely no mention of its voltage monitoring and Bluetooth capability anywhere on the box.

Also on the top of the gift box it is not written HK6, just hardwire cable. The HK3/HK4 had printed the version HK3/HK4 on the top of the gift box. Also the HK4 was a little more orange to make it a little different compared to HK3. But after the HK4 they abandoned the idea to offer a little different color of the gift box to easy spot the version.
Being almost the same color, I just imagine at warehouses that sometimes they are sending the wrong product.
If you want to see that the product is HK6 you need to store it with the front on you.
Also the HK6 name is Hardwire cable and not Hardwire kit, so maybe the correct name would be HC6.

I never got a box.
All mine came in plastic baggies.
I feel so left out. =(

Folks, does HK6 have higher power output / load capacity than HK4?
Is there way to test the retail HK6 for voltage stability under the typical load, but at higher temperature?
