Vueroid S1 4K Infinite 3CH - 4K+1080p+ 2K Unboxing, First Impressions & Testing

From now on, HDR+IPC was used. IPC will be disabled depending on the available light, as far as I know.

IPC will have more saturation compared to Normal mode. I prefer it.

How is plate capture at regular driving speeds during low light / night? That's truly the hardest lighting condition for dashcams to capture plates.

No issues at night. Even with both cars going 100km/h, I can get a good capture from the front camera. HDR is working good.
In the city it's obviously even better.
I will post more examples in the next few days.

I find the hardest condition for plate capture is dull light, before it gets dark enough for headlights and HDR to be effective.

In these conditions I'm finding the S1 4K does almost as well as the A329S, and there's not many cameras which can do better than that.

@jsmith here are some more nighttime images
Some of the plates can be read very easily, some are harder to catch.

During daytime with HDR+IPC there needs to be enough light. Otherwise the plate will be a blur.
With the fog reducing the sunlight, the S1 4K was not able to capture plates in these conditions.

A few meters down the road without the fog the S1 4K happily captured it.

Nice colors with HDR+IPC

The rear cam was able to catch this plate with both cars going 50km/h.

The Vueroid S1 4K has been very reliable the past few weeks.
I did not encounter any bugs or other issues while it was recording

The geofencing works as intended, so does the OBD 2 hardwire kit.

So far I'm very impressed by it. The performance is extremely good for such a new player on the dashcam market.
Good job @Vueroid and all the others that were involved!

Could you please share a low light plate capture in both the zoomed in but also full frame view, i would like to attempt to gauge what angle the capture is made in, due to my own car only throwing light in oncoming lane quite close to car, and here other cameras will not resolve any plates.

Seems to be the camera does a VERY GOOD JOB of capturing license plates in most difficult lighting scenarios. No consumer grade camera will excel at every scenario, but the @Vueroid S1 Infinite 4K certainly DOES A FANTASTIC job. Seems the company has made a very solid camera.

Everyone tends to focus more on a product’s shortcomings than its strengths, and they often bring up things they need or request changes.
Of course, I also always want to learn about issues we may not yet know about so we can improve them and make a better product…
But messages like the one you left here truly give us a lot of strength.
I know you didn’t try to sugarcoat anything, but the fact that you shared your honest thoughts as they are really makes me happy.
People may feel the same way, but they don’t always express it well.

Although I wasn’t able to reply to your DM directly, if you look at the recently updated firmware, you’ll see that most of the improvements you suggested have already been applied.
A few remaining items will likely be included in the next update.

I truly appreciate it!

While it is important to share issues or things that can be improved, I think that it's also important to share when something works as expected.
Especially, since reliability is a big thing for dashcams.

Keep the good work going!

Praise MUST be given where praise are earned / deserved.
Equally as important as telling people when they are wrong / idiots.

When i am often quite quiet about the systems i have been given to beat on, it is not that a am very lazy, but just not much to say of bad or good for that matter.
And the " big " reviewing guys often find the little flaws way ahead of me even if we are given systems at the same time, CUZ i mainly just focus on the user general experience and this many brands do quite well these days.
I was for instance recommending / mentioning viofo long before i got my first system from them.
Solely based on feedback from other people i feel comfortable with.
I also don't think i will have any qualms mentioning Vueroid if someone come asking for options and have not added too many must have things.

After a short break, I'm back with more insights.

As @TonyM already mentioned in his post, the S1 4K does struggle about 30 minutes before sunset.
The image has too much motion blur, making plate capture nearly impossible.

Here are some examples:

Capture possible:

Failed:

Difficult to identify:

Two more fails:

Driving through a tunnel makes it dark enough for HDR to properly work. Capture will work fine:

During nighttime, the S1 4K happily captures plates, even with a dirty windshield.

The glare from the headlights shows the dirt on the windshield from the salt on the roads. This does not negatively impact the plate capture.

I’d like to bring over my reply from Tony’s thread since the topic and issue are the same.
I don’t want to leave this thread without any comment, as it may come across as ignoring your valuable feedback.

Thank you, Julian23.

Because you always test things objectively, the results drive us in the right direction more aggressively.
We understand that there are still challenges in image quality and license plate capture under certain specific environments, and we have been carrying out intensive tuning recently.
We expect excellent license plate capture performance across all lighting conditions, and we are continuously planning performance updates for the S1 4K, including improvements to the license plate restoration AI feature, which received some disappointing feedback.
There are comments stating that it’s unnecessarily expensive compared to similar products (in hardware specification terms), which is frustrating. Still, we are confident it will prove to be worth the price.
Our goal is to make sure that anyone who chooses the S1 4K will never regret their decision.

Even with the sun down low, the S1 4K can capture both the front and rear plates of oncoming traffic.
The rear camera has a very good focus and sharpness in any area.

The past few weeks, the S1 4K has continued to work flawlessly as it should. Nothing out of the ordinary happened.

I also want to report that the audio quality of the S1 4K is very impressive.
It will pick up quiet noises decently and also capture loud sounds, such as loud music, without issues.
With loud music, even with heavy bass, there is no distortion. Everything can still be nicely heard.
Some cameras tend to quieten everything once low, loud frequencies appear. The S1 4K manages this very nicely.

@Julian23 Firstly, thank you for your efforts thus far, unless I've missed some posts, you haven't shown any plate captures in parking mode - do you have any?
I'd be very interested to see how they compare, especially at night and/or under streetlighting conditions.
Thanks.

What comparison do you want to see? I have some night parking examples I could share with UK plates.
