Vueroid S1 4K Infinite 3CH - 4K+1080p+ 2K Unboxing, First Impressions & Testing

Thanks - UK plates appear to be an outlier in having a refractive background - it's mainly to compare the excellent results seen in this thread with the (presumably) lower framerate and processing used in parking mode to reduce power consumption and how readable the plates are.
On a side note, it's a pity they've gone with the (to me) 'clunky/chunky' form factor - something like the D20 range would be much more subtle and aesthetically pleasing, even if it had to be enlarged to accommodate the electronics and provide a bigger heat dissipation area.

But yes, I'd welcome the chance to see your night parking examples!

@Julian23 Firstly, thank you for your efforts thus far, unless I've missed some posts, you haven't shown any plate captures in parking mode - do you have any?
I'd be very interested to see how they compare, especially at night and/or under streetlighting conditions.
Thanks.
I'm glad you like it so far!

You are correct, I didn't show plates from the parking mode yet.
I just pulled the SD card to share some images.

Parking mode selected: PNV (Premium Night Vision)

Completely dark without headlights. Some plates can be read.

Rear camera won't be able to read plates with this little light.

I hope this helps!

Thank you - very informative, Compared to the Blackvue Elite 9 the static parking images are comparable, the dynamic images are much better!. Clearly the light rain doesn't help...
The Blackvue rear camera performance is surprisingly good with some illumination from the passing vehicle, but as usual -- and I think it's due to the mandated refractive background of UK plates, there is a problem with contrast levels causing the plates to be unreadable.

The Vueroid images are better than I expected though, thanks.

I think low light capture of plates might still be a problem in that i don't think enhancing features are on while parked in order to conserve power ??

In motion detection or impact detection parking modes the bitrate and frame rate are identical to normal driving video. Power is saved by not recording continuously.

Yes - I've just had a look at the Blackvue file sizes, broadly the same for continuous and parking, although the Thinkware ARC 900 parking file size is less than 50% of the continuous recordings.

Back to the Vueroid, hopefully they'll be releasing in UK in the not too distant future, I'd like to compare the S1 against the Blackvue Elite 9. - especially in 'challenging' weather conditions, I see a lot of videos recorded in near-perfect weather conditions, but in reality, how often do those conditions arise? Likewise with sunrise & sunset, yes, it can cause problems, but if you're rarely if ever out at that time of day, does it matter?
Personally I like to test things repeatedly in worst-case scenarios to get a benchmark - hopefully that means the day-to-day use will always yield a better result & experience. I used to be involved in 'mule testing' for a vehicle manufacturer, it sounds great but after driving into a kerbstone at precisely the same speed and angle many times a day or enduring the heat or cold soak tests for days and weeks on end, you do begin to question your life choices!

I've been testing the S1 in rain, fog and general low light (not darkness). Vueroid acknowledge that the S1 has too much blur in these conditions - the latest test FW is very promising in this regard and should be released soon as a public issue. I'll try to post some samples in my review thread in the next few days.

Vueroid released a new firmware for the S1 4K.

  • Revised Stamp settings menu (Brand model, firmware version, date & time, channel, voltage, video GPS speed, GPS coordinates, enhancement, frame rate, watermark, color — 4 options)
  • Added DC Off function via long press of the OK button during parking mode transition
  • Added Time Zone support
  • Added GPS disconnected icon
  • Improved VOD playback speed when using 2.4G Wi-Fi
  • Enhanced video image quality (Linear, HDR + IPC)
  • Enabled interior camera motion detection
  • Enhanced GPS zone setting accuracy and advanced Hub UI
  • Improved overall system stability
  1. Download the latest firmware and unzip the file.
  2. Plug your MicroSD card into your computer and save any dash cam footage you wish to keep
  3. Format your MicroSD card in your computer
    • PLEASE NOTE: This step will erase all the data on your memory card.
  4. Open the unzipped Firmware Folder, and copy all contents onto the MicroSD card
  5. Insert the MicroSD card into your dash cam and power it on.
  6. Wait for the camera to announce, “Upgrade is now complete, continuous recording will now start.
    • Your dash cam LED lights should blink while the firmware upgrade is taking place
Do not power off your dash cam until it begins continuous recording, as it may cause permanent damage to the dash cam

With the latest Vueroid HUB app update, you can now leave the app without it disconnecting immediately. This makes using the app much better.

The improved menu icons are noticeable and make using the S1 4K much easier.
Here is a before:
The displayed icons did not represent the physical buttons.

With the new 1.3.11 firmware, the icons now represent the actual buttons, making navigating the menus much easier.

The stamp menu also got more options:

20251231_143736.webp
20251231_143749.webp

These settings are also present in the app:

The color option for the stamp will only change the color for the information at the bottom of the image. The Vueroid stamp at the top left will remain white.

It is clear from YouTube that the s1 4k comes up short against the Viofo a329pro in many areas even though they are similarly priced. Any comments on that?

I will check it , and if there is an issue , we wil fix it on next release .

I have checked this poin with my team and marketing group. It is an intentional behavior and we do not plan to change the colors for the logo.

I have some images from the previous firmware that I wanted to share. (V1.3.9)
The conditions were hard for the camera because it was either snowing or there was a lot of water on the road.

The S1 4K did well for these conditions in my opinion.
Keep in mind that this is not the latest firmware!

That's an improvement upon the Thinkware & Blackvue cameras I've tried in similar conditions, UK plates tend to be over-exposed with the mandatory reflective backing, the M-B van may also be over-exposed due to reflections from your headlights, which is why the BMW can be read easily - just a thought.

Thanks your feedback. Even the firmware is not latest ,but the image quality is the latest.( 1.3.9 is same 1.3.11 )

Cloudy conditions like these can be very difficult for dashcams. Many struggle to capture plates.
The S1 4K performs very nicely and catches about 9/10 plates clearly.

The overall performance of the S1 4K is in the top 2 of its class.
A full summary will come soon.

The Vueroid S1 4K is now globally available directly from their own store.

They currently have a promotion for the S1 4K and their new S1 QHD.

In their store, they offer a 10-20% discount depending on the camera and configuration.
If someone decides to buy two S1 4K, the 2nd unit will get a 51% discount!

The new QHD is offered with a free 256GB micro SD card.
