Yes, this should work.
I just successfully updated my S1 4K like this to 1.311.
I used a 256GB Samsung U3 micro SD card.

What kind of SD card are you using? Size and speed are relevant.

I didn't check that, but you might be right, I had a spare cheap Sandisk around and tried that first, nothing appeared to be triggered the update, but with freshly formatted Vueroid 512GB the camera finally updated the firmware.
The process is not clear even for tech savvy dude like me, manufacturer has to update manual with clearer set of actions.
 
Agreed... there is some misinformation on the process. You had to unzip and put the .dat into the root, is that correct?

Nice that you were able to update it.
I already mentioned this issue to Vueroid some weeks ago since I made the same "mistake". They replied that the S1 4K needs: "A1/A2, UHS-I U3, and Video Speed Class V30 or higher."
There should be some kind of notice about this on the firmware page to avoid events like this from happening.

I normally also use cheap smaller size cards for updates and was surprised that it didn't work with it.

First of all, we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced.
There are two ways to upgrade the firmware:

Method 1: VUEROID HUB App (Automatic Update)​


After downloading the VUEROID HUB App and connecting the device, the app will automatically compare the firmware version on your product with the version on our server.
If a newer firmware is available, the app will prompt you to download and update it.
Please note that if an update includes significant improvements in functionality or image quality, it may be applied as a forced upgrade.

Method 2: Manual Update via SD Card​

You can also manually update the firmware by downloading it from our official website and copying it to the SD card. Please follow the steps below:
  1. Turn off the main unit and remove the Micro SD card from the unit.
  2. Insert the Micro SD card into your computer.
  3. Download the latest firmware from the VUEROID official website.
  4. Unzip the firmware file and copy only the .DAT file to the root directory of the SD card (i.e., not inside any folder, but directly at the top level of the SD card).
  5. Safely disconnect the Micro SD card from the computer.
  6. While the main unit is powered off, insert the Micro SD card correctly into the device.
  7. Turn on the device. The firmware upgrade will start automatically.
  8. Once the firmware upgrade is completed, the device will automatically restart to finish the update.

I followed the first method with the HUB app. It was simple and required very little user input.

I like that the S1 4K does not need to be reset to default after a firmware update. All my previous settings were preserved.

Indeed, the automatic update via the Hub app was seamless and easy.

My previous Vantrue dashcam will wipe out all config data with each update and its really great that Vueroid preserves the config settings after a firmware update, making it a hassle free experience.

Does the interior channel need to be connected in the 3CH model for the firmware update to work? I can make a support ticket, but decided to ask here first if there's a quick answer. If that is required, that would explain my issues.

Unfortunately, no microSD / SD card reader. I forgot most laptops & USB hubs don't have SD card slots anymore. Could've swore my old laptop did.

The issue I'm experiencing: the app transfers the firmware, the dashcam reboots, but the dashcam never actually upgrades from V1.09.
  1. I installed the app fresh, connected it to dashcam's Wi-Fi (set to 5 GHz). Connected!
  2. It immediately starts to download the S1-4K_firmware_v1.311.zip update (likely the forced upgrade you mentioned).
  3. The app transfers the firmware to the dashcam & the dashcam automatically reboots.
  4. The camera turns back on, however it is still on V1.09. The Wi-Fi is disabled after rebooting.
  5. I turn on the dashcam's Wi-Fi, reconnect the app to the dashcam: the app also confirm it's stuck on V1.09 and starts the forced upgrade again.
I've done this cycle three times. I also tried a Factory Reset: same problem. I turned my car off & on: same problem. I tried the on/off switch on the Vueroid: same problem. I unplugged and replugged the cables on the Vueroid: all seem secure, it records great, but the firmware still won't upgrade.

Most peculiarly, if I stop the forced update → go to settings → firmware update, it claims there is "No update items available".

Did I miss some important step for the app update process?

The setup, if helpful:

Camera: Vueroid S1 4K Infinite 3CH (however currently, only front + rear cameras are connected)
MicroSD card: bundled Vueroid 512GB microSD
Power source: included cigarette lighter
Current FW version (per the dashcam + Hub app): V1.09
iOS app version: 1.4.0 (released 2 days ago)
Phone: iPhone 15 Pro, iOS 26.2

I ran it again today and it worked perfectly on the first try (still without the interior camera connected—extension coming this weekend).

I am now on Firmware V1.3.11, the latest.

A while ago I reported to @VUEROiD that motion blur on the S1 4K seemed rather high around dusk and dawn, close to sunrise and sunset - when the ambient light level is low but it's not dark enough for HDR to be as effective as it is at night because ambient light is still the primary light source rather than headlights. The amount of blur was noticeably greater than the Viofo A329S which I also have in my car for a long-term test.

Vueroid accepted my observations and promptly got to work on refining the dashcam parameters for...

is it possible to share your configuration file which located in config folder (config.bin)
and the last inifinte file before parking . ( we want to check the receive GPS locantion and save GPS location(config.bin))
it will be very helpful for us to solve this issue.

When connecting the app to the S1-4K, a new firmware is downloaded: V1.32

The V1.32 firmware download is actually V1.3.11. The units with the older V1.09 firmware could not understand the longer version number string for 1.3.11, so VUEROID made it available as 1.3.2 so the older units can upgrade to 1.3.11 as well.
