The video quality is horrible.

Cannot record in .MOV
Sites such as eBay are currently littered with counterfeit Mobius cameras. The counterfeits record in .AVI only, and the video quality is horrible. I would suggest returning it for a full refund.

As to how to tell a genuine from a fake, check out our guide to counterfeit Mobius cameras.

actually there are fakes that are also 96650 + Ar0330 and record in MOV that are much better than the fakes you have looked at, not suggesting people should buy them of course but there are some out there that are a lot closer to the real thing than the lower spec AVI version, will easily catch people out with these ones

Can you PM me links so that I can do test buys and document them?

Okay. Who is making them? Can you source one for me?

I'll have to dig through my emails again and find the detail, was 2 months ago when I let isoprop know about this, there was no interest though so hadn't thought about it since, have some meeting to go to but will have a look later in the day when I get a chance

Very quick check - I'm in the UK and want to buy from Amazon as I've got some credit on there. The only name I can recognise is SpyTec who are in the US: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/B00GT2B4R6
I take it that anything advertised as "wide angle" is the C2 lens ?

Address on amazon checks out with their website, any reason not to purchase this way ? Note that its fulfilled by Amazon.

Hmm I see what you mean, so are spytec selling non genuine C2 lens mobius ? The pics on their site match the amazon listing and state C2 lens.
All the advice suggests to buy from an approved seller, yet the non approved seller that David106 found looks to have the genuine product ?
Why is it so difficult to actually buy one of these things?!

It's not that the lens in your earlier link is " non genuine", it is simply the older version "C or B" lens , not the new "C2". There are still older "C" lenses and modules in the marketplace, but you don't want them. (The C lens is excellent, the module is faulty.)

It may be that the SpyTec Mobius picture is of the older wide angle lens but the actual camera you get will be a C2. At least if you order it and the lens is wrong you can send it back.

I bought mine from................

You can use your Amazon credit to buy a genuine 64gb SD memory card.

Thanks all, I just took a look at other approved sellers and found the spytec lens being referred to as the C, rather than the C2.
There are others that show a picture of the C lens, but refer to it being the C2:
Spytec : Webbex: http://www.minidvcameras.co.uk/viewitem.php?productid=58
ReadyMade: http://www.readymaderc.com/store/in...d=4222&zenid=8f6c3104817caf54d47b6bf610bd8fe0

I will email spytec, failing them I'll have to risk buying from a non approved seller.
If I was buying with cash I'd just go to banggood as they seem to be ok, but I want to use the amazon credit up.

I'm an old and former happy customer at Banggood but they gave me a several month run-around when I tried to buy a Mobius C2 from them last March, finally ending in a PayPal dispute. They have a bad habit of offering items for sale that they claim are in stock but are not. They even gave me "date shipped" notices that were false. A word to the wise............

You wouldn't go wrong ordering from Banggood's UK warehouse. Just make SURE they actually have it in stock. Aside from the bad experience I described they've otherwise been good to deal with and even once cheerfully and promptly replaced a bad Mobius lens module.
