firmware 6.08

are you using the latest firmware? it have been updated from 5.27 version.

I should run the new firmware 0608.

@Rayman.Chan

I think you misunderstood me, I was talk about the photo folder.

Front & rear folder look like yours.

that will affect little but not visible.
the power off sequence was: no power -- record 2 seconds - still no power - save files - shut down
new power off sequence is: no power -- save files - waiting 2 seconds - still no power - shut down

so if you only drive a short trip and didn;t recharge the super cap enough, the last files will not be damaged.
but there is also limits, for example if you drive 1 minute the caps are only 88% recharged, you may also lost the ending files!

someone mentioned it has shutdown logo and shutdown tone?? if so it's better not to have those to conserve power with capacitor based cams, instant screen off and no sounds is more efficient

@Viking The connection cable is not a USB cable, probably some Novatek proprietary one

yes it is a special cable which have 6 cords inside. (2 for power and 4 for data plus shielding)

Would love to have a second one as well. Everytime I'm testing something I have to get into my car since I "hardwired" the rear cam and connection cable....

I think you will need a rear cam also, not only the long cable?

sorry mistake understanding.
we will check

I would say there should be a sound at shutdown, at least for test. The power led indicator is to weak to be seen and you need to know the camera is off.
Hopeful the production model will have a stronger light, so your suggestion will work.

The strength of the LED's cant be fixed in firmware.

if you could, you can change the 1k resistors to 470R, that will increase the LED lights to 0806 level

I have still problem with last file not getting saved.

maybe you can check the super caps connection and the 4pcs B2B connectors next time when you open the housing?
with the new firmware the files will be stored file with 3 minutes caps recharge.

Where is that resistor located. I think I will prefer to add 1K on top of the other. I too hard to remove the old , because of the glue that has been used to keep the component in place before soldering.
That will be 500 ohm after that fix.

the sound won't use a lot of power, the LCD being on to show a logo will though

Does the Novatek SDK just write data as fast as it can to the memory card or is it limited by device buffer speed or something?

Just wondering how much fast memory cards with good sequential and random performance are going to be more essential for these new cams?

I guess the fact the 0906 currently writes a log, plus has that shutdown logo and sound will all contribute to what's happening in those dying seconds. Like @jokiin says definitely worth getting rid of them both as what's the point if the last files are sometimes damaged?

the data it's writing shouldn't be any issue, it could handle that no problem, the splash screen is not needed and just a waste of power though

It looks like there is power enough to the shutdown.

I will tried to check the B2B connection .

the logs are used to debug what happened if there is some problem.
if there is anything un-usual, just need to submit the logs to engineers.
the logs will be removed when formal release.

Second rear cam would be cool as well, yeah.
Have you seen my bug report regarding missing video files?

Edit: will the rear channel flip ever be implemented? Right now it only gets flipped on the 0906 display but the movie files are still upside down

The rear flip works here mate or at least did on 5.27 - I'm just upgrading to this firmware now

your feedback have been sent to engineers to check out; we will get result soon.

I have switched "REAR CAM FLIP" to "ON" and my rear camera files are still upside down. The preview on the camera is actually flipped, but not the recorded files.
"ROTATE IMAGE 180°" is "OFF" since this flips the whole camera by 180° (front camera as well)

I just want to flip the rear camera image with this setting

try RESET DEFAULTS and power off then REAR CAM FLIP again?

Does it still have the problem if you do a full factory reset to defaults and then turn the flip rear cam on?

I'll double check mine but I'm sure I have the flip option on and it's working for me (unless my camera is the right way up!)

@Rayman.Chan - in the log files it seems to be writing binary data:

upload_2017-6-9_11-18-58.webp

Is it writing out the binary contents of the shutdown screen to the log? Or is it a memory dump of some kind?

Just thinking if that can be stopped it minimises data being output at shutdown while still keeping the logs?
