V2.0 Firmware for Public Testing

Don't know if this is the best thread to ask, but is there any update on a beta v2.1 firmware with faster boot times?

What is the boot time now? What would you like it to be?

A boot process identifies all attached cameras, the GPS, and the memory card, allocates memory... and plenty more. If the cam is taking 3 minutes to boot, there is probably an issue. If it is under a minute, I would
accept that time frame, understanding the dashcam is preparing itself to do the task you paid for it to do.

Are you talking about this? A329S TESTING THREAD See post #108

I think we are done with “Beta” firmware.
It’s all fully finished “official” now.

I see your post on #108, I asked in #109, and Viofo responded in #110 with further optimizations in the future. Hence my v2.1 beta comment. I understand v2.0 is final.

If you reference Chuck's post, if it could get down to the A329's ~13 seconds, that would be reasonable. Under 1 minute is quite a large range.

I'd like to emphasize stable robust firmware foremost, anything under 20 seconds bootup time is fine. If someone has a specific situation they see a need for fast boot, please elaborate?

I'd like to point out V2.0 A329T is good and stable for me however, I still do get multiplexing video option turned OFF on its own from time to time (1 per 2-3 weeks)
Would add a settings menu for turning blutooth off would be a nice option to have!
I do have custom firmware that has blutooth disabled, but every firmware update I would have to request a custom version.

Likelyhood of this is extremely low. If you want to go all out then ask for dual SD card slots for redundant backup on a future A429. Cards fail way more often than getting hit as within 20 seconds of startup.

Can we have encrypted backup of these files? If someone breaks into the car and steals the unit/SD card. Im more worried about this.

How about starting the car and backing out of a parking spot? I don't sit around, mess with my phone, etc for 20 seconds. I start, shift to drive or reverse and moving in under 10 seconds.

So let me get this straight, you wait for 20 seconds before you put the car in drive? 😂
I think you should give up driving the risks are far too great out there. Just stay home

I don't think anyone is saying they wait 20 seconds.

The general consensus is that accidents can and do happen within a few seconds of turning on the ignition, and not all dashcams boot up quick enough to capture these events.

I think your reading comprehension is lacking.

Boot time is still terrible for the A329S/T products. My old A119 Mini2 was so much faster.
And yes, i have, several times, had the scenario happen where i get in my car, turn it on, and start to back out of a parking spot, to nearly be hit...then like 5-10 secs after the event, i hear my dash cam say "Recording started".
So, yes, i either have to wait for dash cam to boot, or risk something not being recorded.
I have tried a few things to help...like parking a ways away, where i can pull out forward most likely.
Tried remote starting my car as i exit the building just before i walk up to it. But, most often, especially when i make a stop at grocery store and load up the trunk, and am with someone, i forget to put the key in the ignition and when i try to move, car shuts off, and so does the dashcam...so its even longer a delay to-restart and wait for cam to boot back up.

Are you really using a 1TB SD Card with your A329T?
Like INSIDE the dash cam, not externally with a card reader connected to the SSD port.
That will definitely increase the boot time from completely off.
Let me go test that.

No. Is external ssd. ran out of space to add that i think in the profile. (will edit it)

But i , do have 512GB micro sd card installed as backup/fallback storage. Boot time is pretty much the same though with no ssd....too long.

Edit. There. Edited profile to be more accurate. Sorry for the confusion.
Am curious if boot times are shorter with internal sd card vs external ssd.
When i first setup the cam, i noticed no difference, but did not measure it.
Either way, i think other cams have managed to be up and recording much faster, even 3 channel models.
I recall Viofo posting that V2.1 firmware was supposed to be a new SDK or something, that would improve boot times.

When A329S 3CH (2025) was first released I compared bootup times with A329 2CH (2024). FIRST BOOTUP SPEED TEST

11 Seconds: A329 2CH (2024)
19 Seconds: A329S 3CH (2025)

11 Seconds: A329 2CH (2024)
20 Seconds: A329S 2CH (2025)

11 Seconds: A329 1CH (2024)
19 Seconds: A329S 1CH (2025)

It’s been 11 Months since A329S was released, I’ve given up hope on a firmware update that will make A329S 3CH (2025) as “quick” as A329 2CH (2024).
Maybe the next model will have S1-4K “fast boot performance” (1 Second).
Maybe it will be the A139 Pro Max with X-Ray Vision. lol

The people have spoken! I think if its under 5 seconds it would be good enough.. Not the best but enough to tame the fire within some of you
