Latest FW 24Mbit without flashing + 6Mbit parking guard

Dear Nigel,

I understand your point and recommendations.
However, it does not answer to my questions. Any hints where I can find the necessary information.
Regards

Your EXE works very well.

I have attached autoexec.ash modified by your EXE for the May 07 2016 firmware from mini0806.com. I can confirm i took a test sample clip and windows reports the bitrate 23.96mbps.

Thanks!

Nope... It doesn't work for me. The last one (before firmware upgrade) did... Not the iTracker one, the regular mini 0806 one.

Could you upload the memory dump you are using ? I'll fix it if it's broken

Hello Plusarz, grate job with your EXE. I've just installed on my mini0806 with the 7-May firmware and seem to work fine except for one thing. When I Press de "OK" button to stop recording the camera displays the circle dots like is stopping recording and It has freeze. First time I believe that it was a firmware problem but doing some tests I discovered that if autoexec file is not in the SD mem the problem disapear.
Do you have any idea whats going on?
Thanks in advance

I did use you exe. It produced the code pasted at the bottom of the post. Still bitrate is around 10 Mb/s after using it (1920x1080@45fps). No 24Mb/s for me I guess...

This is the exact code I posted that is working for me. Only difference is you are using the 1080p@45fps option, not the 2160p option I and most others use. I'm guessing the bitrate for that is not getting patched and that is why it's not changing for you. The author did state it only patches the "18Mbit +-25% VBR" bitrates. Since you are seeing 10mbit I assume that is probably not one of the ones that gets patched.

Ohh... Right... The first ash file worked with last firmware on 1920x1080@45fps. But the ash file manually created using exe and own memorydump (may'16 firmware) will only boost which modes? Which of them are 18Mbit +-25% VBR?

Finally I got it working. Problem was with reboot procedure. It seems that you have to manually reboot the device (press the side button). I was doing it wrong - shutting down after power cord removal (poor battery inside).

When I Press de "OK" button to stop recording the camera displays the circle dots like is stopping recording and It has freeze.
Hi Pulsarz, Nigel, everyone,
Thanks for your efforts in improving on mini 0806 firmware and performance!

Marco - I found I had the same problem, I suspect it's most likely to do with the write performance of the microSD card.
- it occurs specifically AFTER recording video, when saving to the card
-- this can be manually stopping recording, or removing power, etc.
- the device shows the rotating dots, as though saving to file, freezes (with dots still stuck on screen) and refuses to respond to any button input (even power off)

I'm going to test with:
a) different firmware version (2016-01-04 most likely)
b) different microSD card (although the only other one I have here is a Sandisk, so we'll see)

Same problem with 2 diff. cards, both firmwares, both slots.
I'm going to order one of the recommended Samsung Evo **PRO** cards and see how I go. Will update once it arrives.

Evo and Pro are different cards. You want the "Pro +".

Thanks Joel, I just went into research mode and discovered that. The key difference is write speed:

64GB Samsung Pro+ | Up to 95MB/s read, 90MB/s write

64GB Samsung Evo+ | Up to 80MB/s read, 20MB/s write
64GB Sandisk Extreme | Up to 90MB/s read, 40MB/s write

*HUGE* difference where it matters. Interestingly the Sandisk I have is the gold-coloured Sandisk Extreme UHS-3
Frustrating given I paid a not-insignificant amount for the Sandisk, but it has gotten some good use in the GoPro.

::EDIT:: Interestingly, 25Mbps works fine with the SAME cards, but when using Nigel's firmware (based on 20150323 0806 firmware). The write speed should have been fine given 25Mbps is only just over 3MB/s (so should be fine if sequential writes). It would depend on the way that the 0806 handles writes though, I guess.

With the 0806 I have learnt not to over analyze and get technical. Quite simply and frankly, it works with some cards and not with others. With all due respect, I don't much care what the specs are. I know the Pro+ works. I have an EVO and it doesn't work. That's enough for me to go with the card that everyone here recommends.

I've already ordered one anyways. Just figured I'd post up my findings in case it helps someone else :)

Hi bros,
since we found many users are complain on the turn off or reboot which causing by card writing problem, we have to set the default vieo bit rate a little lower to make sure their camera works correctly.
when you make a mod version, please remember to leave a notice for good quality microSD, otherwise there will be more and more complains.
Thanks.

If you need some tech support, please let me know.

what is the firmware version we should upgrade to which reflects the slightly lower bitrate version?

or you can easily change the VIDEO QUALITY setting from PERFECT to FINE or NORMAL
