Thanks, I'll continue any discussion over in that thread in the future so we don't side track this one.

Just wondering who controls the firmwares on these please folks? Will they be made publicly available on powerucc.com - there's nothing there currently but maybe that's because the firmwares are still in beta?

In the near future will complete the integration of the Russian menu.

Well it's in - is the ACC+ wire supposed to have a plug on the end or should that be on the end of the ground wire? I just cut it off and stuck a plug on the end of the ground to make install easy.

That's some serious bell wire on the power cable!

Just done 100 miles and all is well - had a 7 series nearly lose it in front of me which is always nice!

I'm running FW 1.00.11 from the top of my head - are there plans to turn off the LCD completely instead of displaying the time?

Not sure if that's in there yet in the newer firmwares.

It seems to have the time there in parking mode too. Giving it a while to see what happens next 🙂

U got factory FW, because X2 originally set for Korean market only. There are 12, 13, 15 ( no front LED ), beta-FW under testings and fixing bugs, soon 16 beta-FW coming. So, step by step all will be sorted and when final FW fully ready, then will be released to public.

I've got to admit I really like that LED on the front - shame it has to be turned off!

I've found a bug with short file name handling (not sure if this is also on the old Panoramas) - you wouldn't notice it until you do a check of the disk but the camera is producing duplicate short file names which means that when you run a chkdsk against the filesystem it will rename half the files so that they're unusable and RV won't be able to stitch them together.

Here's an example of a dir listing of one of the X2 cards:

upload_2014-10-22_0-7-8.webp

You can see the old 8.3 format names listed first here - well if you take all of those in a folder and then sort by name you get this:

upload_2014-10-22_0-8-22.webp

If you then go and run a chkdsk against that it will cause carnage.

Code:
C:\Users\rev>chkdsk e:
The type of the file system is FAT32.
Volume X2 created 22/10/2014 12:51
Volume Serial Number is 90C6-BD99
Windows is verifying files and folders...
Windows found errors on the disk, but will not fix them
because disk checking was run without the /F (fix) parameter.

<snipped>
File and folder verification is complete.

Windows has checked the file system and found problems.
Run CHKDSK with the /F (fix) option to correct these.
   31,154,688 KB total disk space.
32 KB in 1 hidden files.
           96 KB in 3 folders.
   10,977,120 KB in 98 files.
   20,177,408 KB are available.

32,768 bytes in each allocation unit.
973,584 total allocation units on disk.
630,544 allocation units available on disk.

Now this is a problem that you would normally see as soon as the dirty bit is set positive and Windows will try to scan it.

Definitely needs fixing as this will cause all sorts of issues - not sure if this one has been addressed yet?

Also has the one with the front and rear datestamps not matching been sorted since 1.00.11 at all? Looks like this fixed itself after the camera was rebooted - they were 9 hours out.

Would it be possible to add a toggle for the rear camera so that those using privacy glass could toggle it on to raise the exposure a bit and brighten things up please?

Here's what I'm currently getting through privacy glass with 1.00.11 - a toggle to boost exposure of the rear camera would help this one out.

Cars with privacy glass are pretty common in the UK now so this would be a solution to those as well?

Yeah the sensor is actually doing a good job and the detail can be pulled out with VLC but I was just thinking giving a privacy glass option would be easier than teaching people new to dashcams how all the EV options etc work?

Here's a really quick play I've done similar to what @Dashmellow has mentioned in the past:

trouble is there's no one size fits all as the amount of light varies from vehicle to vehicle, my last Subaru had very dark privacy glass on the rear, others are not so dark, yes/no setting would be better than nothing but some adjustment would be the preferred option I would think

Yeah good point to be fair, I guess then we'd get people with limo tint saying it's not working properly so adjustments would work better - d'oh!

Yeah can the the engineers make a toggle in later firmware to toggle the front led on/off? I'll go on record and say I'll pay for custom firmware to make it happen....

I think Alex mentioned it had already been done mate

AV Output: 1

Memory Slot: 2

USB Input: 1 (rear camera cable input )

MIC input: 1

This has everything I need but the front camera is too big and cannot be hidden.

Are there any user adjustments for these settings already? I know in other models there's no adjustment capability

Not yet, I bought up the need and was told it's on the future firmware road map now though. The innovation should be non-stop as the X2 picks up steam.
