I have spent a number of months with 70mai's latest release, the 4K T800, to see what it is all about. Does 70mai have a hit on their hands with this, their first three-channel dashcam release? Read on to find out.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Firmware: v1.2.136ww. The firmware version loaded from the factory onto the device was v1.0.115ww, and during the testing period I received several improvement, stability and bug-fix firmware updates of which I updated to in the latter part of testing.

App for testing: Android version v3.12.1, obtained from Google Play Store.

The verdict:

Having previously reviewed the 4K Omni from 70mai, I was somewhat hesitant going into reviewing this new dash camera. This was due to the motion tracking functions of said dash camera, which enabled it to remain my daily driver in my vehicle for the last six months. 70mai has managed to surpass all expectations with their 4K T800 release though, due to the addition of 4K video to the rear sensor (addressing one of my quibbles with the 4K Omni).

What has resulted is an overwhelmingly solid product in the T800. There is nothing quite liking being able to remote into your vehicle over 4G, and switch between three video feeds, two of which are in crisp 4K. If you value the best image quality for your vehicle's safety and surveillance, in a stealthy package, then look no further than the 70mai 4K T800. Pick one up now.

My nitpickings:
  • Image processing is still somewhat oversaturated to my eyes
  • Rear camera does not have collision or motion detection
  • HDR timer and options to turn on/off HDR would be a nice addition for future models
  • Right-angled rear camera cable may prove troublesome for some vehicle installs

The positive:

  • Stunningly glorious video quality from front and rear Starvis 2 IMX678 sensors!
  • High audio quality recording both inside and outside the vehicle
  • Fastest Wi-Fi transfer speeds from any dash cam brand at ~40Mb/s
  • Integrates seamlessly with the UP04/05 4G hardwire surveillance kit, for solid parking monitoring
  • ADAS functions have been further refined with this release
  • App and cloud functions continue to be a well-polished, both in UI and user experience
  • Fast and fluid operation on-camera itself using buttons
  • Firmware and APP update and customer support is a strong point of 70mai

Very nice video imagery, I do like those. The night cam does a right good job of showing the cabin. 👍

Sometimes comes down to personal preference, at least manufacturers are all taking different approaches to the colour processing which is advantageous in it's own right.

Cabin camera is a decent performer, i would have preferred an IMX307 or something of the sort, but the GC2093 is an oldie but a goodie (was also used in Vantrue Nexus 4 Pro). These parts will come down in price so won't be surprised to see Starvis 2 such as IMX662 make it into more cabin cameras in the near future....

There has been some more updates to the 70mai APP in the Google Play Store:

The latest version is now 3.13.0 (revised changelog below) and brings the following improvements:

- Support for new device A810S, T800E, M310 Plus 2K
- Added GPS time synchronisation UI for A500S
- Fixed an issue where some A800SE overseas users might encounter video RS merge failures when saving videos to local albums
- Fixed an issue where time-lapse videos from the 2500 series might not display footage from the extended camera in the album
- Fixed a rare crash issue in the local album video list
- Improved connection stability and resolved certain connection anomalies
- Corrected translation inconsistencies in some interface languages
- Fixed other known bugs and optimised overall performance

Heat Testing: 70mai 4K T800 + 70mai UP04 4G Hardwire Kit

The 70mai 4K T800 on show here is recording at its highest native resolution of 4K, 30 frames per second in three-channel configuration. Please keep in mind that this is a tough test as this dashcam is exposed to operating conditions that stresses it to its limits. Firmware version: 1.2.136ww. Tested with it's respective stock power supply.

In all instances, the ambient car cabin temperatures (with air-conditioning set to lowest setting without car driver/passengers feeling hot) is 32.7 degrees Celsius. 70mai 4K T800 installed to left of rear-view mirror

28th October 2025:

Scenario: parked in stationary car mid-afternoon for approximately 30 minutes directly facing sun
Exhibited behaviour: 70mai 4K T800 did not shut-down, display was dimmed as per screensaver time-out

Outside stated weather bureau temperature: 34.3 degrees Celsius
Dashboard recorded temperature: 57.3 degrees Celsius

70mai 4K T800 (top of camera above LCD on ventilation grilles row): 68.7 degrees Celsius
70mai 4K T800 (LCD screen itself): 65.9 degrees Celsius
70mai 4K T800 (underside of camera on ventilation grilles): 65.7 degrees Celsius
70mai 4K T800(directly at microSD slot location on left side): 72.6 degrees Celsius

UP04 (directly at nano-SIM card slot location): 59.8 degrees Celsius
UP04 (underside of unit at 70mai logo location): 60.1 degrees Celsius

Although n4s cabin camera uses the imx675 sensor, it seems that T800 using the GC2093 sensor is clearer when in full black. Can anyone explain the reason for this?

Detailed changelog has now been published for the latest 1.3.145ww firmware update for the 70mai 4K T800:

- fixed the issue of frequent SD card formatting prompts
- changed the Arabic device name in the overseas version to 70mai Dash Cam 4K T800
- changed the Italian and Filipino device names
- added logic for deleting small streams upon power-on scanning. Fixed the issue of small streams not being deleted in a loop

- fixed other issues that could be reproduced during testing

just did the update.

just did the update.
There was also a bug where when using Remote Surveillance and viewing the rear camera, it would show as Loading (unless you went into a settings menu and then went back, and then it would show the live feed).

This update fixes that bug too.

ATM using 4G with the Vantrue system, but i can not recall having seen that rear camera issue on the T800

It was there and I replicated it every single times with the 70mai engineers, so I'm glad to see the little gremlins fixed.

Hello,
Thanks for the review. I plan to get a 70mai dash cam for my 2026 Civic Hybrid Sedan, and I have a few questions about what to choose. I am considering the T800 and the 70mai battery pack. Will I need to get the Hardwire Kit UP06 to connect both of them to my car, or will the kit from the battery pack be enough?

Thank you!
