70mai 4K T800 (unboxing & impressions) (Sony Starvis 2 IMX678, GC2093, Wi-Fi 6/GPS, Novatek NT98530, 4K front / 4K rear / 1080p int, HDR all channels)

Thanks. Nice to know. I always install my dashcam below the plastic trim covering the base of rearview mirror and hide the cables underneath that plastic piece. Can’t wait to get mine.

How was your experience with installed 70mai 4K Omni X800 on trim? Did you use anti-static on trim? I will appreciate that could you kindly sum up how you did that? Thanks in advance.

70mai also has their official CPL filter that will be available for the T800 upon it's final public release.

Here are some hands-on photos of the official 70mai T800 CPL filter for your enjoyment.

Hey @Augustus, thanks for a great write-up review! Quick question regarding remote viewing from the app: is this only achievable if it has the 4G module? Is it possible to have the T800 connected to Wi-Fi and have access to the cloud, like how BlackVue does it, either being connected to Wi-Fi or through the 4G dongle?

Welcome to the forum Noypi_RH

The connection to the 4G kits of 70mai are wired, actually the 4G modem also act like a hard wire kit, they do of course also have wifi and you can also access it that way to get footage of it and do settings with a phone, but i do not think connecting to a home wifi and then being accessible that way is possible.

Parked / in parking mode the wifi are off to conserve power, so then you can not remote in that way.

The 70mai 4G kit do not broadcast a wifi / act like a AP, COMMs go thru the wire to the 4G modem

No worries thanks for the kind words! 🙂

As @kamkar said below, it can't operate via home WiFi. The T800 doesn't operate in that mode like other competitors do, to me it's not a deal-breaker but I can understand that it may be for some folks and that's perfectly ok.

That being said, 70mai have been killing it lately with their dashcams and I'm a happy camper

Indeed i will have to dig to find something bad to say about the T800 i run ATM

It could maybe be added in update, lust like i hope a timer will be for me to use alongside low bitrate parking guard mode.

@kamkar @Augustus thank you both and this clears up my curiosity and TBH the T800 is top contender for me, I was just curious how their 4G module worked.

Thanks for welcoming me and glad I found this forum, got alot of stuff to dig through this wonderful rabbit hole of resources! 😂

One downside with me and the T800 is, it is a 2 in one front / main unit system, and so i would have to put it offset for the interior camera to properly see the cabin, here by far i prefer Viofos remote interior cameras you can put anywhere along the top of the windscreen or even further away on a longer cable.

So when i sample cameras like this i remove my mirror to be able to get proper good undisrupted interior footage in, but TBH it can often be many months before i remember to screw my roof mounted mirror back in place.

ATM i have the T800 offset a little to the left and the Vantrue S1PRO Max offset to the right, leaving room for one traditional wedge camera right smack in the middle of it all.
The Vantrue have a big + in this, its lens can also be slightly angled to the sides, which nicely compensate for the offset position, today not many cameras have this option only up/down adjustment which is also fine if you have the system right smack bam in the sweet spot for a dashcam.

Of course that is me the addict talking, a regular user just having one system to work with only have to consider what might be best for the particular layout of his windscreen which can be " complicated" by sensors ASO.

Sadly after site rearrangement i have lost track of the nice PIC heavy thread of peoples installs, it was a nice thread to browse to see what might be possible with layouts somewhat similar to what you might have.

No worries, it's a decent fast and reliable 4G solution. It's not as detailed as Blackvue or Thinkware but if you're not a power user, then it should suit your needs just fine

It's easy to get lost down the rabbit hole here on DCT, I think everyone brings something different to the table so happy to hear it's assisting your potential purchasing decisions!

I agree on the positioning of the interior camera for the T800, however I also prefer it rather than having to wire up yet another interior camera that other brands like Viofo provide. That's probably the power user in me speaking as it's just doing multiple teardowns and repeats installs every year in my vehicle

Yeah already got it Dled, now i just have to get off my wrinkly old ass, into the shower, and then off on a little drive.

BTW i also have a 4G modem update, but somehow it will not take to the system, this might be due to me having BT off, will experiment with that on my drive too.

Nice, no issues with the 4G hardwire kit modem update for me a while back - literally went thru in minutes.

Will have more to report on the T800 update soon, in Europe at the moment so can't get to testing like I would like to.

Overseas a lot this year I can't keep track of where my soul is.

I can not get the ADAS that is off to shut up now, i have even tried to turn it on and disable all warnings, and it still keep going.

Better report it to the powers that be that's a bug..
