Pretty cool to see the redesign come too, functionally it's the same but a much cleaner layout.

I think most people and what 70mai recommend is that people install it on the dashboard area in the corner. However, I have mine installed on the top left corner of my windscreen.

The problem I've had is that in a hot climate, my install location isn't the best so it ends up melting some of the adhesive off, and then the UP04 main unit falls off and hangs there. I realise that it's because I don't have the unit installed facing up (where the adhesive isn't directly facing the sun). But still wish the adhesive was of a stronger type, like it is with their dashcams.

It's something that afaik they won't change for this generation, but for next generation they may or may not have a stronger adhesive put in. But for now it isn't. So even with our Aussie heat, I'd probably still just install it in the corner on the dashboard itself.

Could it be installed on the plastic housing behind the mirror? There’s a nice little spot for it in my car.

You might have to get another kind of dual sided tape, CUZ the provided ones are for use on very smooth glass surfaces and might let go at some point on the interior plastic trim.
But that is also about the only issue going that route.

The grey sticky pads are not as good as the black ones - mine comes away rom the windscreen sometimes on the T800.

I got the grey sticker on the T800 and it have not budged.

well 2025 was not particular hot here, but the winter have been cold, we had snow on the ground for several weeks now, normally that is just a day or two.
And my car is in " O hell no " mode when it come to sticking things to it, my suction cup phone holder broke so i modified it to mount to glass with dual sided tape, but that only last like 30 minutes to 2 hours at best ( tried 2 different tapes )

This. But also because the volume of the adhesive isn't the best either, I have cobbled other 3M Vhb black adhesive from other spare dashcams and the UP04 still comes off the windscreen 🙁

I got the gray pads also, but so far it is holding well. I guess it's because I cleaned the surface very well using 99% alcohol and made sure my fingers did not touch the adhesive part. I also installed it during hot weather. However, black pads are better in my opinion, as they look better from outside.

UPDATE: 70mai has communicated that there will be no HDR Timer function coming in (any) future firmware updates for both the 4K T800 and 4K X800. This HDR Timer function will be implemented on all new 70mai dashcam products that support HDR, going forward. The first of these has been the 4K A810 Lite.
