A118 Novatek 96650 Full HD 1080P Car Camera DVR

Ok, so more then on original G1w - IMHO worth trying.

Thx!

I received my A118 from Foxoffer. It took 12 business days to arrive, Singapore to Canada.

At first, I was not at all pleased with the sharpness of the videos. The quality was good at the fringes of the frame, but poor at the center.

After a few days, I examined the camera and noticed the piece of protective plastic stuck to the lens.

I removed it, and the image quality is so good, I'm tempted to shoot a porno with the sucker.

Also, I've decided to stop drinking.

Question: is there any reason to use one file size--1, 3, 5 min--over another?

That is a part of my story with A118 :D You are not alone ;)
I've voluntary let the protection on the lens to find the best position on the windscreen and then I forgot it :D

Need a bit more testing but the samsung cards look like a fixer :) - now contemplating the 64gb version

Could you please give some examples of dashcams where motion dectection works fine ?
(juste for our information)

From the cameras I used in the past years, and I can totally attest that Vico WF1 (no buffering, weird sensitivity) and GT430W (after 11s enters into parking mode, which is insane for city driving) are NOT to be used in parking mode.

The only camera that worked as intended in parking mode, was the Itronics ITB-100HD I had.

All 3 are in the "premium" segment, so yeah.

Motion detection isn't Parking Mode.:(

Motion detection: is the process of detecting a change in position of an object relative to its surroundings or the change in the surroundings relative to an object.

Parking mode: This function allows you to save space on the memory card when the vehicle is stationary. The device shall record only when motion is detected in front of the camera.

I know there are many different individual meanings / definitions if we take word for word outside dashcam world, but in dashcam forums there are commonly used expressions and meanings. We all have to get used to them ;)

the answer I got from the dealer, for me it is the same.

When I open my microsd card through the computer, I see a folder called "RO" that contains some of the videos. What does that mean and how can I stop it from doing that? It separates the videos from each day, which makes it a bit of a hassle to view the videos consecutively

RO (read only) these are files that have been flagged by the G-Sensor or manually flagged not to be overwritten, if you're getting too many perhaps the G-Sensor sensitivity is set too high

You'll know the G-sensor has been tripped and the file dispatched to RO by the yellow caution triangle that appears on the screen.

Hi all, I just received my A118 and was disappointed at the gray adhesive. I've got some clear on order that I should receive next week, but of course I'm anxious to try the unit out now. Just how hard is it to remove the mount for re-use with a different adhesive? People have to remove them occasionally, I imagine. Is there a best technique?

Thanks for any help!

There is a piece of string in the A118' package to remove the mount.

Some people also use dental floss to remove mounts. Where did you order the clear stuff from?

I ordered from Amazon; this one had good reviews including use in hot cars: https://www.amazon.com/gp/B00004Z4BU .

Anyone have any thoughts on a solvent to use to get the residue off the plastic mount? I've read acetone, Goo-Gone, WD-40, gasoline... Of course I don't want to melt the mount along with the adhesive! Or can it be mechanically removed with scraping, pulling and patience?

I confirm what jookin said.
Grey adhesive is easy to remove from mount.
