I've got an A118c camera I've had for a while, and as far as I can remember it's always worked fine.

I've now moved this to a BMW X5 E70 and it's wired to an ignition live.

It turns on fine, but when the engine is started, it turns off - and then doesn't come back on again, even though there's power.

It looks like during cranking it drops to ~9v momentarily and that gets it into this state.

I don't *think* there's an engine live circuit I can use.

Is there any way I can get around this?
Is the issue likely to be the camera, or the hardwire kit?

Thanks.

Try and put boot delay on, the circuit the camera are on might be doing some fancy trickery when starting.

Some circuits do switch from live to dead when cranking.

With a multimeter you should be able to find a circuit that doesn't become live until IGN pos 2

I think that’s her opposite of my problem - the camera is on fine for a while but it’s when cranking it goes off, not that it comes on and goes off straight away.

I’ve had a look but not found one yet in the passenger fuse box.

As kamkar said, try a boot delay
