Hello,

Do you know of any camera that starts recording (to a micro-/SD/SDHC/SDXC/SDUC/... card) right after a power supply is connected to it, and stops recording right after that power supply is disconnected from it?

If it has an internal battery (for instance, to keep track of time, while disconnected from the external power supply), that is OK, but it should not impede the camera to start recording right after the external power supply is connected to it, as I said.

An external circuitry -with a very low standby current- will detect proximity, and will apply power to the camera only while needed, thus keeping the average power consumption very low. The external circuitry will not press any button on the camera. It will close or open an electronic switch (MOSFET), to apply/cut power to the camera. Therefore, cameras that need a button being pressed to start recording, and cameras that need a button being pressed to be powered on and start recording, are not useful.

Thank you.

Virtually every dash cam on the market is designed to automatically begin recording after you engage the ignition in your car (apply power) and stop recording when you shut your engine off (disconnect power).

Most dashcams, when wired to an ignition source, will do what you want.

Doh, DM beat me to it

Hola Vorticella welcome to the forum.

Start record with starting car, and stopping when stopping car are just about the prime directive of dashcams, you should not need to press any buttons to do anything but get into menu to do changes, or press the event button if you have something small you would like to save.
But in daily operation no button pressing is needed, just start your car and drive and the dashcam will take care of everything else ( start record & stop record )

It do however not start up right away, but most cameras are up and recording in 10 seconds or so, so not a problem i think.

Just remember no dashcam is install and forget, you be wise to buy your memory card from a trusted source, and it should not be smaller than 128GB in size.
Also you should check up on your recordings every few months, look at if drive sessions start in normal places, so where you live - where you go shopping - where you work - where you fill gasoline on the car, and so on.
If a session start down the road from a know place, or maybe end there, something might be wrong.

It is no problem you just need to view a few seconds of every clip you preview, just enough to see where it is, doing so should not take mere than 10 - 15 minutes or so on the computer with the memory card in a card reader.
