Compatible SD cards??

To clarify your last post, are you saying to format the SD card using the computer and do not format it using the DVR?
Yes
They must be in the format FAT32 (with a cluster of 32 kb) and the reader (should be support SDXC)
Some already used for a long time

Hi Mio,

As for 64GB class 10 microSD card, i format using FAT32 (with a cluster of 32kb) then DR500 can read the 64GB card?
Please confirm as my understanding is correct? Because in singapore 64GB cost around USD$67.00 !!

Yes.
Attention! the reader for format (should be support SDXC)

Upgraded to 64GB memory card, so far so good.
Hi Linni,

64GB can record up to max how long? I using 12mpbs firmware. Each file is around 80-100mb per 1 min video.

I`m using the original firmware, but I guess at 12 Mbps it should be somewhere between 10 and 11 hours.

Guys, i using 64GB Sandisk MicroSD card. I use SDXC card adapter to format to FAT32 file system with 32KB cluster. But when i plug in the blackvue, it keep prompt,' initalising SD card. What is my problem? Or i must use SDXC card reader to format??

copy the files to the other flashcards flashcards (working)
And insert into the recorder.

Yes after format to FAT32 with 32KB cluster, i had copy all the working SD card content into the 64GB. My pc detected 59GB total. But the blackvue still say initalising SD card.

record goes or not?

After a few attempt, finally it start recording!! Phew, let see how long 64gb can record how long.

Good deal, glad to hear you got it too work. Give us an update on the recording length and the settings you use.

I was abroad for a week, not much driving, but now as I`m cheking my memory card, used space is 48,6 GB and 10,8 GB to go to be filled up. Lots of files in there.

Guys,

A bit update on my 64GB max capacity. Ok, when i plug in the 64GB into the DVR, it is 22/3/2013 (1722hr). On 24/3/2013 (1700++hr), i check the very first file is 22/3, 22:00hr. Sorry, my maths is very lousy haha.

It should be 48hr-5hr=43hr max recording. My DVR is using 12mbps firmware.

Anyway, my DVR was connected to power magic, so it is 24/7 running.

43 hours sound respectable. What settings are the DVR set at, Full HD-30fps? Compression or not?

Yes Full 1080P running at 30fps. Custom compression 12mpbs. I think stock low compression is 7.5mpbs.

Thanks again for the update. I'm really impressed with your results. I will be buying a 64gb card and will give it a try. If I have any issues or problems, I'll be posting here.

Your math IS lousy :D

64 manufacturer`s GigaBytes = 59,6 real GigaBytes
59,6 GBytes = 476,8 Gbits
476,8 Gbits capacity / 12 Mbits per second bitrate = 39 733 seconds = 11,04 hours

Edit: when in parking mode, Blackvue doesn`t record continously, but only when motion is detected.

I''m going to believe your math is correct and I didn't double check it. That being said, 11 hours for a 64GB card doesn't sound like it is much of an improvement over the 9 hours and 24 minutes the manual suggests that a 32 GB card should get at Full HD 1920x1080, 30fps and no compression. What am I missing?

You are missing the fact, that Dscheng is using custom firmware, which is recording at 12 Mbps. Stock firmware records at 7,5 Mbps at normal (=without) compression. Which means with 64GB card you can achieve 17,6 hours of recording time at best quality.

By the way, koreans do also bad math
9 hours and 24 minutes for 32GB card, you can find in Blackvue`s manual, is calculated on 32 GB basis. But the card`s capacity is not 32 GB, it is 29,8 GB. So, the real max recording time is accordingly 8,8 hours = 8 hours 48 minutes.
