Dumping BlackVue for A329T

Having persevered with Bv for too long I need to get rid. The A329T 3ch along with HK6 appears to suit the bill.

Now the 1st question; I'm considering a Samsung T7 Shield SSD. I've read that the camera only records to either SD or SSD, not both at once.
Having an SSD is it worth using a high-capacity SD card, or would it be better to just use, say, a small 64Gb?
Again, as I understand, when the SSD is removed, files are automatically transferred to SD.

2nd question; Bv uses a plug-in module with SIM card for internet access. How is internet access gained with the A329T?

Being new to VIOFO, advice is appreciated.

There is no option for external access to the A329T, or any other Viofo dashcam.

You can connect over WiFi if you are in the car or standing nearby.

You will need to take the SD card out/SSD and connect to the PC.

The SSD is a huge advantage because the transfer speeds are way faster.

I find most of the time, unless you need to retrieve heaps of videos. The Viofo app on you phone works well, especially with wifi 6 on the 329 series.

Playback through the app is smooth as well.

I switched from BlackVue to Viofo for my main cameras.
Viofo is the industry leader in footage quality.

Moving from BlackVue though, you will 100% miss the easy access of footage and remote LTE access that BlackVue use.

I ended up missing Cloud function and got a BlackVue Elite 8 as a second camera just so I can keep the Cloud Access which shows the vehicle location, WiFi hotspot whilst in the vehicle and download footage from anywhere.

I currently have both the A329T and Elite 8 set up.
I'm currently undecided where to move them around the vehicle.
I may end up having A329T front and telephoto at the front, with the Elite 8 running at the rear.
The Elite 8 is a 2K camera, same as the A329T rear - but has a wider field of view

BlackVue file transfer speed is a lot slower than Viofo in direct WiFi mode.
Viofo doesn't have remote access download.
It'll be a case of either downloading footage direct from the camera or removing the SD card/SSD and connecting to a PC/Mac. If you do that, be careful as it can turn parking mode off and you need to turn back on when engine is running again. (Due to disconnecting when in low power parking mode).

My new Viofo A329T has arrived today - shipping from China to UK is very fast at the moment.

I decided to try out the new BlackVue Elite 8 to see how BlackVue have progressed since the prior DR970X Plus model (aside from the mid-model update of the DR970X Plus 2).
It's an upgrade from 1080p/1080p to 2K/2K from DR770X Plus, but not up to the 4K of the DR970X Plus, but I am still curious to check it out, as I can't get away from the convenience of BlackVue's remote view/Cloud Access and now the addition of low power parking mode.

This will be replacing my DR970X Plus LTE due to the smaller size (although separate CM100GLTE module), but addition of low power parking mode for...

You can alternatively transfer the videos over the air using Wi-Fi. I usually only need one, or two, of the minute-length video clips to cover some driving event of interest. I use the Viofo iPhone app to select and download the video files directly to my iPhone. These video files are pretty big for 4K/60fps, like 480MB. With the A329S my phone connects to it using Wi-Fi 6, so each video file downloads in less than a minute. My old A139 Pro connected at 5Ghz, but not Wi-Fi 6, so took a bit longer than a minute to download one video file.

If I want to use the PC viewer, or edit the movie, then I next transfer the video file from my iPhone to my laptop. I prefer to use Air Transfer which transfers over a direct Wi-Fi connection. If your laptop supports Wi-Fi 6 then the phone->laptop transfer via Air Transfer is equally fast (less than a minute).

It does seem as though Cloud access is sadly missing, particularly for things like remote monitoring.

There have never been a cloud enabled system that was also a leader on image quality.

Viofo i think will eventually come around to the cloud fab, which now that i am trying it still cant say i am hooked on, these days i only use it ( live preview over LTE ) if i am shopping and have my car filled with a small fortune of pneumatic weaponry.
And then testing, ATM i often try to LTE into the Vantrue 1S Pro Max, and so far i am generally not able to do it, seem very random so i think Vantrue have work on this to do.

I will still say i still dont think 4G is a selling point if i was to go dashcam shopping.
While i can carry the now 2 X larger phone bill as i have 2 SIM cards, then i would have to think twice about this too.
