G1W Novatek 96650 WDR F1.6 H.264 MOV 15Mbps GPS Dash Cam DVR

Thanks. Sorry to ask stupid questions, but is it thick enough to power the device? Since I bought a 3-meter cable for iPad, and it does not charge it. 3 meters is too long.
 
The iPad has very different charging requirements than a dash cam, the cable should work.
I am using 3-4 meter USB to Mini B cables with other cameras and have zero issues.
 
Ok. And how much amperes does this camera require? My usb charger is 5V 2.1 A and it is shared for two devices, another port charges slower, another faster.
 
On most 5V USB cameras 1A is more than enough.
I am using a single 1A car charger on one camera and a 3.1A combined (for 2 ports) on another.
 
Ok, nice to hear. So maybe I can use low-power port for camera, and high-power port for another device, iPhone or iPad maybe.
 
BTW, G1W is kinda cheap, just 52$. How can it be so cheap? It is cheaper than DVR207, even the picture quality is better.

I guess that's why it's now in the best buy (bang for your buck) category.
Build quality is hit and miss though like most low priced cams and how long it will provide trouble free service is another thing.
One thing the DVR 027 (not 207) had was good reliability despite the image quality.

You could but if your adapter is rated at 2.1A combined in two ports using an iPad and dash cam together might not work as the iPad itself needs 2A at least as far as I know. Using an iPhone and dash cam together should be ok.
 
I put together side by side test: G1W vs G2W vs DOD LS300W

EV value set to "0" ( zero ) on all 3 dash cameras.
Sound recording is from G1W

Top left = G1W
Top right = G2W
Bottom centre = Dod LS300W



I did this test nearly 5 month ago, but since then did not had time time to do editing putting videos together ( was crazy busy summer ).

Much brighter picture from the DOD LS300W at the bottom. I'm guessing it's because of the WDR on the LS300W which isn't present on the other cameras?

G1W and G2W also have a WDR ( HDR ). They both almost same on the paper, same CPU, same CMOS, F1.8 on G1W and G2W, but It's all comes to overall parts quality and firmware. Price difference is over 100%. Dod cost 150 usd, G1W 60 usd.

Jumping upfront I must say VF300W is different story. It is 90-95% same as DOD LS300W. Will post video tests soon.
 
I mean what do people expect from a cam (G1W) as low as $52 from estore009?
If I had only $60-70 to spend on a dash cam or was just curious to find out about them I would choose either a G1W or a Mobius for $69. Even the VF300W is only $73 right now.

I think for 52usd G1W you get even more than you pay comaring to all other cr _ p out there for same price.

Looks pretty simliar. The ls300w just appears 'clearer' rather than brighter.

Id like to see how the vf300 places, if it's much better than the g1w I might go with that instead.
 
You have the downloads all mislabeled.
g1w = all 3
g2w = ls300
ls300 = g1w.

I can't wait to see how the vf300 vs gt300 compares. if it's similar, and better than the g1w, i might do that instead.

Do you mean VF300W vs LS300W? I don't know if Niko owns a GT300W.

What about the GT550W in comparison to all these? I thought Niko owns one of these. Cheers.

Edit: Another similar model is GT680W, in different casing.

Yes, will post soon VF300W vs LS300W. GT300W is same as LS300W.

DOn't have GT550W, but I do have GT680W.
 
Thanks for the video comparison. I took a chance on this camera and hope to get it soon. For the price i am thinking of replacing my DVR-027 up front in one of my cars with this and putting the DVR-027 in the back with my Vico up front. Video looks good for the price.

Model is now in black, they have an internal chip photo and confirm it is using the Aptina AR0330 CMOS. Firmware is 2013092501.
