GoPro has silently lunched a firmware update for the newer released remote that is compatible with the Hero 9, Hero 8 and MAX. The firmware version is v1.2.0 as is dated to 23.03.2021, it should bring some general improvements. Sadly it seems that if you already have the v1.2.0 it can't be forced to upgrade again like you can do with the Hero cameras.
