I wouldn't worry too much. That website you quote is probably just being honest. They admit that it specifies 170 deg, but in reality it is probably only 150 deg. If mine was really 170 deg it would be recording the pillars either side of my windscreen.
You asked about the HD quality. If you view my video on Youtube try playing with a few of the quality selections available. 1080 looks really good, but 480 looks like a really crummy camera. I have also used the DataKam software that enables you to look at your trip and view it on Google Maps. The maps part didn't work, but the viewer enables you to zoom in on the video as it plays. The native video is a bit curved due to the wide angle lens, but when you zoom in on it, it is amazing how much detail it captures ie. number plates etc.
That website also claims "super" night time vision. If this is true it must be a totally different design to that of mine. My night time video is only Ok on a very well lit road and definitely not super !
The size of the battery isn't really important depending on how you will use it. If you have it mounted in your car with the lead plugged into the 12V outlet it won't matter at all. The dashcam will turn on when you turn the ignition on. It will turn off ( after your pre-selected delay) when you turn the ignition off. The battery only needs to last that long. In reality, mine lasts longer that 20 minutes.
You will be happy with your cam. It is reliable and gives good daytime video, and it is a lot cheaper than those $250+ professional dashcams.
