yes, there is more life in video with HDR On, and not only after the sunset.
I agree that the image has more "life" with the HDR setting but what we are seeing actually is more dynamic range, which, of course, is what "High Dynamic Range" (HDR) is supposed to do. Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) tends to open up the shadow details while sort of ignoring the rest of the tonal range in dash cam images. Unfortunately, so far, HDR when used in dash cams tends to destroy fine details.
