HELP? How to Hardwire - Thinkware f750 front and rear??

It only mentioned there was a memory card error because I had just taken my memory card out... I was just wondering if there was a way to turn the camera off before removing the memory card..
Thanks for the fantastic reply again Dippy. I don't have the LED bar on either.
That's interesting. Max. For parking mode. Continious mode will overwrite, so not much needed for that. I'll have a play around!
Thanks! Cookey.

Hold the power button until it turns off or pull the power lead out. I have extracted my SD card without turning it off and had not problems but in general I prefer to power down first.

Ah right, sounds basic. Just didn't want to hold anything down incase of a reset mode or anything. Wanted to double check first!

Just a quick one, my Thinkware is working fine, loving it to be honest, does the job, the app works spot on.
However, I started my car up today and had this message from Miss.thinkware "regularly format data card" or something along those lines?
Can anyone clear this up and what I can do?
Many thanks. Cookey.

Format the data card :)

It is actually reasonable for Thinkware to encourage regular formatting as supposedly this extends the usable life of the card. However they have taken this encouragement to a level where you can't stop that message until you format it. If you are sure that you don't want to keep any of the video clips that are already on the card, all you need to do is press and hold the format button for a few seconds. The format itself takes only a few seconds, if that, and there will be a message that it has completed. Then the message you heard won't be heard again for a few weeks until the unit decides that you need to format again.

Top man, cheers mate, I'll sort it later on after work! may seem a daft question... But it won't reset my settings will it??
And the downloaded clips will they be erased? Or will they need saving to my iPad first?

No it does not change the settings. Either the format does not actually totally erase the card or (more likely) immediately after the format it recreates the default folders and files, including the settings.
What do you mean by 'downloaded clips'? The F750 saves all video clips on the SD card. If you download them, it will be from the SD card to whatever device you use (in your case your iPad). The format will delete all video on the SD card. So if you have not saved them to your iPad then they will be lost forever.

Ah right, okay, by downloaded clips I mean.... image.png....

OK. I use the PC Dashcam Viewer so am not familiar with that. I assume that those are the files that you have already downloaded to the iPad's memory so they are safe.

Did anyone have problems crimping the 22 gauge wire when using a fuse tap?? The wire seems insanely too fragile and thin to fit in just any butt connector

better to solder and heat shrink

These forums are invaluable. Haven't seen anyone suggest this method, but it's definitely a good one. Going this route. Thanks!

I cut the connector off the fuse tap and also soldered and heat shrink. Makes a better job

Agreed, although I didn't have heat shrink facilities. So I twisted and folded the bare wires and soldered the end. Then I used the crimp. The solder is soft enough that this makes for good contact and a tight connection.

Here you are again. All memory stores have a partition file. I am quite sure you know that when SD cards are "re-formatted" all that happens is the partition file is zeroed out. In effect the Contents list is deleted leaving a blank partition for new files to be saved onto (writing a new Contents in the partition file as they get written). This is why SD cards reformat in a couple of seconds. Unlike hard drives they do not need to have sectors deleted and rewritten which is why especially large hard drives can take such a long time to reformat compared to the lightening speed of any SSD drive! The fact that only the Contents get deleted is why we are unable to undelete files that are deleted. They are still there but not listed in the "Contents" file. There are ways to get back files even after a reformat but they are very specialised and need very expensive equipment and highly trained technicians which combined cost soooooo much that in reality, yes, all files essentially are list when reformatting of anything takes place. I once (in the mid 1980's) had to pay £5,200+ to restore a 20Gb hard drive whose partition I deleted accidentally - mega ouch!!!!

Remember too some files are held on the onboard memory (i.e., files are not just saved to the SD card)!

Looking at buying a higher capacity MicroSD card, but unsure what to get.. I understand I need a class 10... But that's about it.... Anyone help me out?
Cheers. Cookey.
