I've got a Mini 0801 recently. However, I'm using Mac. The software that comes with the cam is for Windows only. Is there any Mac .mov player with GPS tracking on map? Many thanks in advance.

I've seen that question asked a lot with no answers. iMovie will join files but its not dashcam GPS friendly etc

You're better off putting a VMware
(virtual machine) install of Windows on your Mac and using RegistratorViewer.

I can PM you the new Beta 5.3

Just sent you a PM.

Someone else just asked the same question here:
Board index ‹ Dash Cam Forum ‹ Dash Cam Videos ‹ Managing Videos

UPDATE...............
My Question:
"Latest beta still works great thanks again. A few people in the forum have asked if you plan on porting RegistratorViewer to work in Mac OS X. Is that a remote possibility? (or no way, too difficult) For now I told them to run Windows in VMware Fusion. ~Jon"

Vadim's Answer:
"Current project cannot be compiled for MAC, because a lot of direct Windows API using.
For MAC need new project, started from empty. I don't plan to do this."

Finally got it work on my iMac.

Here are the steps:

1. Download Contour Storyteller for Mac (http://contour.com/software/storyteller/)

2. Add the following headers to the Mini 0801 GPS log file (can edit using Textedit)
?,date,time,latitude,n/s,longitude,e/w,?,?,?,?;

3. Convert the edited Mini 0801 GPS log file into a valid .gpx file using GPS Visualizer (http://www.gpsvisualizer.com)

4. Open the .mov file using Contour Storyteller, and then import the .gpx file corresponding to the .mov

This works great!

Thanks.

Seems like a lot of work to do per .log file, especially if you use 1 minute loop size. Can you automate your steps?

Well glad you have a work around and you're happy! I've never heard of contour Storyteller. I'll tinker around with the Windows version just for fun.

GoPro has a software suite as well which has some nice filters that can be applied, free download and easy enough to import your DVR files

for example here's a screenshot from a file straight off the camera http://jokiin.com/images/screenshot.jpg

compared to a screenshot from a file that had been run through the Protune filter in the GoPro software http://jokiin.com/images/screenshot_protune.jpg

load them both up and flick between them, you can see the effect is quite obvious

Yes, it's quite tedious (it took me maybe 30 seconds to work on 1 GPS log file), but for the sake of fun once a while, at least I don't need to mess up with having Windows on my Mac. Given the workflow is fairly straight-forward, I'm sure some sort of macro can take care of the file combining & editing, but I will certainly not get into it. Ha ha ha ...
