Review: Dome D201 Ambarella A12 2560x1440p HDR GPS Dashcam (Gearbest.com)

For now you do need to get Car DV Player working on your machine. It's that or nothing for GPS.
(3 axis stuff is also present, but the scaling is way off. Factor of 10?)

Check/update your video drivers and or try disabling overlay.

Ok, thank you guys.
I found old post with the link to Car DV Player, but that is the same version I had on my D201.
Anyway, re-installing it didn't help. It still crashes as soon as I try opening video file.

Where can I disable the overlay?

I believe it would be within your video cards settings.
Have you tried updating the drivers?

@EugeniusD80 - Try to install K-Lite Codec Pack and after that reinstall Car DVPlayer. I had much the same problem, but I solved it this way, it is worth to try.
L.E. - I run under windows 10

I have a few questions for Falsificator. :)

Is there a daylight penalty with your last adjustments for improved low light performance?
I would think that during the day the image would get washed out. (Or do the changes only affect the low light end of the scale?)

Is there any provision from within the firmware to increase the key frame interval?
I'd expect there would be a benefit in more frequent key frames to go along with your higher bitrates.

Thank you!

This is a test version of the firmware, no more.
I plan to raise the brightness to compensate for 20..30% and
excessively bright light exposure compensation and contrast.
Colored luminance noise will be less.
It remains to find free time for experiments and gadget ...
If free time I can find something to find a gadget is a big problem...)

I totally understand and appreciate your efforts.

Thanks again.

does d201 firmware work on the d201-1 without gps?

I'm not positive, but I think Gearbest just lists it like that to differentiate between selling the camera with and without the GPS module. Does your D201-1 have the GPS connector on the body?

Thank you all for advises.
But I solved the problem of accessing the GPS data by using different viewer/player - DATAKAM Player.
Actually it seems to be more advanced then the standard Car DV Player and works well with the files from D201 (FW version 2382 with higher bitrate from @Falsificator ).
Here is the link: http://datakam.ru/download/
If others will confirm that this player also works for them, maybe @Sunny can update his initial review post with the link to this player.

It's the same thing that we call 'Registrator Viewer' and most already use it.

Are you saying that you are seeing GPS data using DATAKAM Player? (and G-Sensor)

I didn't think that was possible.

@Sunny , OK, got it... somehow I had impression that the standard Car DV Player was the only software capable to access GPS and G-sensor data.
@iptelman , yes it shows all the data - both GPS and G-sensor.
I don't know if it was not possible for earlier firmware versions, but for the files recorded with version 2382 that I have now all works fine.

Well I'm baffled.
I am on 2387 and as expected there is no GPS or GSense data available from DATAKAM Player.

Would someone else please confirm that they also can see GPS info from a DAB201 or 202 in DATAKAM?

Seems I was looking at an older file. You are indeed correct. using 2386 I can see all data.

Thank You!!!

Please provide the link to the firmware 2387.

It's been a bad day for my typing.
I am using 2386 available a few pages back in a post by CaptureYourAction.

Only since the latest I believe.
Only a few things missing now such as speed.
This is a huge step forward.
