can I prevent sun reflection on a camera?
Could it have something to do with camera placement?
Does anyone have suggestions?

That is what the optional CPL filter accessory is for...

Without and with CPL:

İsteğe bağlı CPL filtre aksesuarı bunun içindir ...

quite exorbitant price here ... ......80-100 TL

You can use any polarising filter or some linear polarising sheet (as sold for LCD screens) and stick it in front of the lens if you want cheap, it works almost as well.

Yes, you definitely need a CPL filter. When you do install one make sure it is aligned properly or it won’t block the reflections from the dashboard.

On your advice, I bought polarized lenses from the optician. I'll try to do cpl filter myself ... I'll share after it's done

Note that it will only work correctly if it is exactly the correct way up. The camera should wear it the same way a human would, if you put it sideways then it wont work.

Never seen someone use one designed for humans before, should work fine, interested to see the result...

I did it some time ago using an old pair of 'clip on' sunglasses as a lens source.

I decided to try ... I cut the plexiglass material to the appropriate size and heated it and bent it around the edges. then I finished the operation on my son's cnc machine. I'll check the images after installing the camera in my car

I think you are doing a very good job creating your own and it will be interesting to witness the results.

I have never read these topics about cpl filter construction. I've chosen the more difficult one. :)
I actually thought of cutting and pasting the glass rectangle

It looks like you're doing a fine job (much better than I could). Make sure you get the lens oriented properly when you install it in the mount or your results may be less than optimal.

Wow,awesome job.I have the original big CPL filters on both cameras, and makes a huge difference.Hope you will get good results because you've done a very good manufacture job there.Waiting pictures with the final result.

you may find you need to make it larger, you'll get vignetting like that

I've had one on the front lens and just bought one for $13 for the rear lens in my SUV. I get a lot of reflection on my recordings of the cargo mat or items that are back there.

My filter didn't absorb sun reflection.
I think the lenses didn't work.
applies a sepia effect to the video.
I bought 3d glasses from the internet. Trials will continue ... :)

It could be a matter of the lens not being oriented properly. There are some discussions in the DIY (I think) forum about how to insure proper alignment.

That's a result of using a brown/amber lens. You need a relatively neutral grey lens to avoid a color cast like that.

Maybe it's not a polarised lens? Put it in front of an LCD monitor and rotate it to check.

I quite like that colour, but it's not right!
