Turning off HDR improved night video quality

Taking the advice of scrappy in another thread, I tried turning off the HDR option in the menu. I didn't notice any difference in daytime videos, but it did improve my nighttime videos somewhat.

I really have to try this as I had high hopes that the A118C would be somewhat better than my G1WH, I'll also try playing with the exposure to see if it can be up to par with the G1 although... .as jokiin said:

G1W normally come with an f/1.8 lens, the A118 is f/2.8

All else being equal the G1W is going to have the advantage at night

Sorry which pic belong to which cam? Is the upper pic belongs to G1WH and the lower pic belongs to A118C? Or both belong to A118C, just one with HDR on and the other with HDR off?

I would say the top is G1WH and bottom is A118C since A118C has 170 degree vs G1WH's 140 viewing angle.
 
You can't compare dashcams with different viewing angle
 
It's not a HUGE difference, but it's a noticeable improvement in my opinion.
