VIOFO A 229 firmware update

I just purchased a VIOFO A229 and now it tells me it wants me to do a update, but I am at a loss on how to do it. Any help ?

There is no notification to update the firmware from the camera actually. Do you mean that notification to format the card? If yes, it is better to format it on the computer by this tool first (do not tick quick format): https://viofo.com/download/guiformat.exe
Then format it again on the camera in the menu. We do not suggest updating the firmware if there is no issue in using.

1. download firmware - see below
2. format your Micro SDcard
3. copy firmware file to the sdcard
4. disconnect or turn off dashcam eg pull usb connector out
5. place sdcard in dashcam
6. reconnect usb or turn on dashcam
7. watch for flashing record light.
8. its completed when the dash cam reboots. takes less than a minute
9. press the reset button for 5-10 secs can't remember but it won't be damaged, to manually reset the dash cam.
10. once rebooted set the dash cam to desired settings.
11. format the sdcard in the dash cam again so it's nice and clean and ready.
12. start using the dash cam and enjoy the picture quality
