VIOFO A329T 3-Channel Telephoto Dashcam - 4k+2k+2k - Unboxing, First Impressions & Testing Europe

It seems that your rear camera is generating significant halos around point source lights. I’m seeing this in my rear camera feed as well and thought it was because of the polarizer. I removed the polarizer and made sure the camera lens does not have any smudges or finger prints on it. I won’t be able to test again until tomorrow evening.

This is typical of night vision on dashcams. It's dark and the only source of light are the headlights. It causes overexposure and basically the halos occur. It happens on all dashcams I've owned. I bet tomorrow, you'll notice the same thing.

You can try a CPL filter to help with it, but there's really no cure all for this issue.

I'll have to review my night time footage from other cameras and see what I get. I think HDR is also set to turn on at night time, so I want to get some images with and without HDR enabled.

More information with in-depth explanations can be found on the official website:

The new firmware allows users to export their settings.
To easily take a look at them, I built a GUI that will neatly display all the settings.

With the new V2.0 firmware, the A329T will notify if an event happened during parking mode:

33.webp

The notification stays on screen for 30 seconds and disappears automatically or can be closed by manually pressing the Menu/Lock button.

It's a feature that will be very useful if something happened and there is no obvious damage to the car.

The A329T has been in my car for over 6 months now.
Since this covers a longer period of time, here is a short update on its overall performance.

The image quality is still among the best of any dashcam currently available. Some models come close, but none have surpassed the A329S or A329T so far.
The telephoto lens remains a big advantage and makes license plate capture noticeably easier. I still consider it one of the strongest points of this setup.

I recently had temperatures down to -15°C and earlier this year close to 40°C in summer. Regardless of the conditions, the parking mode with low bitrate recording worked reliably at all times.

Even with firmware V2.0, I did not run into any stability issues.

Overall, it has proven to be a very solid and dependable unit over long term use.
