I'd like to install a front dashcam, and I'm considering the Vantrue s1 Pro Max and 70mai A810s.
What interests me most is the parking function and obviously the quality of the recordings, can you tell me which is better?
Is there anything better in this price range?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Welcome to the club.
How much is Viofo A119M Pro in Italy?
-Chuck

Thanks for the reply.
Price are: a810s 180€, s1 pro max 170€, a119m pro 4k mini 200€(with CPL filter).
Considering that the Viofo includes a filter and costs the same as the others, do you think it would be a better choice?

do you think it would be a better choice?
Do you want a 2-Channel dash cam, or 1-Channel dash cam?
2-Channel: Vantrue S1 Pro Max
2-Channel: 70mai A810s
1-Channel: Viofo A119M Pro
1-Channel: Vantrue E1 Pro

Vantrue’s 1-CH 4K unit is called the E1 Pro that’s also a competitor;

Let’s make this a fun experiment.
How about you send an email to each manufacturer’s tech support and ask;

I’m new to dash cams;
1.) Why should I buy your product over these two competitors?
2.) What makes your dash cam better?

a.) Viofo A119M Pro
b.) Vantrue E1 Pro
c.) 70mai A810S

Viofo Email Address: Support@viofo.com
Vantrue Email Address: support@vantrue.net
70mai Email Address: help@70mai.com

Let’s see how long they take to reply.
You can post their replies here.

I'm looking for a 1-channel dash cam.

I sent this email to everyone, as soon as I get a response I'll post it here.
I just changed the Vantrue E1 to the S1 which I think is better (am I wrong?)
I'm really curious to hear what they say

Wow, so exciting. lol

I'm not sure.
When I tested the original S1 Pro (IMX335) I didn't like it compared to its competition, (Viofo A119 Mini 2).
S1 Pro (IMX335) TESTING THREAD
But maybe things have changed.
The reason I like the E1 Pro is the small size, and the optional suction mount for temporary rental car & travel use.

I received the first two replies:

70mai

Thank you for your interest in our product.
Since comparisons between brands and models can be quite subjective, we would recommend checking reviews from professional reviewers on YouTube or discussions in dash cam forums. These sources often provide more neutral comparisons in terms of video quality, features, usability, and real-world performance.
You may find it helpful to compare the models based on factors such as:
  • image quality in daytime and night conditions
  • parking surveillance features
  • app experience and ease of use
  • installation options and accessories
  • reliability and user feedback over time
This may help you make a choice that best fits your needs and expectations.
Best regards,
70mai Support

Vantrue

Thank you for reaching out and for considering Vantrue as your first dash cam. Choosing your first one can be tricky, so I’ll keep this simple and honest.

First, let me quickly clarify: the Viofo A119M Pro is a front‑only camera, while the Vantrue S1 Pro Max and the 70mai A810S are front + rear dual‑camera systems. So if you want full coverage around your car, a dual‑channel model is a better choice.

Now, between the Vantrue S1 Pro Max and the 70mai A810S, here’s what makes the Vantrue stand out:

Both front and rear cameras record in true 4K – with the 70mai, only the front camera is 4K; the rear is lower resolution. With Vantrue, you get clear 4K video from both ends, which really matters if something happens behind you.

The rear camera is waterproof – you can mount it inside or outside your car. That gives you more flexibility, especially if you drive a truck, van, or SUV.

Parking mode that captures the moments before an impact – it starts recording 15 seconds before something hits your car, not just after. That extra time can make a big difference.

PlatePix technology – helps make license plates clearer, day or night. We know that’s one of the most important things when you need to identify another vehicle.

Optional LTE module – if you ever want to check your car remotely from your phone (live view, alerts, GPS location), you can add the LTE module later. The S1 Pro Max supports it.

I won’t say the other brands are bad – they make good products too. But if you want true dual‑4K, a waterproof rear camera, and helpful parking mode features, the Vantrue S1 Pro Max gives you more value for your money.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. We’re happy to help you make the right choice.

Best regards,

I hope to receive a response from Viofo customer support as well.

we would recommend checking reviews from professional reviewers on YouTube
That particular response from 70mai is less than helpful.
How are you supposed to know which YouTube Reviewers are nothing more than Home Shopping Network / QVC talking heads, and actual tester / reviewer that have not been bought & sold 1,000 times over.
I‘ll give you some examples of the absolute worst offenders, and the handful of guys that actually know what their talking about.

This guy is one of the worst;

These guys are some of the best;

First, let me quickly clarify: the Viofo A119M Pro is a front‑only camera, while the Vantrue S1 Pro Max and the 70mai A810S are front + rear dual‑camera systems.
This particular response from Vantrue was better than 70mai’s.
I’m curious why you asked Vantrue about;
1.) S1 Pro Max
2.) 70mai A810S
When you said you wanted a 1-Channel dash cam.

At this point I think you should have it narrowed down to two contenders;
1.) Viofo A119M Pro
2.) Vantrue E1 Pro

Now that we’ve had our “fun experiment” (pending Viofo’s response) another approach would be to stack up the two competitors like Prize Fighters and look at the “tale of the tape” meaning just looking at their black & white list of specifications.
I’ve got most of the specs right here in the #1 first post;

Yes, I know, it's full of Italian YouTubers who do reviews of the 70mai and don't know what they're talking about.
I asked about the a810s and the s1 pro max because I like the shape, I'm discarding the e1 pro because I don't like the cube shape.
Viofo hasn't responded yet and I don't think they want to participate in our "experiment".

At this point the two contenders are:

-Vantrue S1 pro max, 1 channel without CPL filter, currently on sale on Amazon 140€
-Viofo A119M Pro 4K, CPL filter included, currently on sale on Amazon 160€

I've seen the videos and others too (from reviewers who seem serious) and I think that between the two cams there isn't one that is completely better than the other.

I'm thinking of getting the Viofo, but since I'm really new to dash cams, what do you recommend?

I was disappointed at first Viofo didn’t reply, but now I think it may have been strategic.
Whoever wrote that response for 70mai kind of put their foot in their mouth directing you to seek advice from YouTubers mass producing fake / paid reviews of every electronic gadget from smart watch to robot vacuums.
Not from actual Tester / Reviewers that only specialize in one thing DASH CAMS.
Vantrue’s reply was OK.

I have not tested Vantrue S1 Pro Max (IMX678) 2025.
I have only tested;
Vantrue E1 (IMX335) 2022
Vantrue S1 Pro (IMX335) 2023
Vantrue E1 Pro (IMX678) 2025
So any recommendation I make is going to be 100% biased / flawed.
I’m surprised DCT members who have actually tested S1 Pro Max have not come in here to provide feedback on S1 Pro Max.
I have a feeling if they haven’t came in by now they don’t want to touch this thread with a ten foot pole. Lol
This place can get crazy, (granted I add to the crazy myself).

Now let’s talk about my issues recommending Viofo A119M Pro.
I’m hoping you can wait until next month when Amazon Prime Day might have some good discounts.
You might save $10-$20 on the camera itself, but the real discounts can be found on VIOFO Brand SD Cards, and other accessories.
I’ve seen 50% OFF discounts when buying two Viofo Brand SD Cards, or when buying a package deal with camera, and HK6 Hardwire Cable.

If you buy a Viofo dash cam you “MUST” use a Viofo Brand SD Card.
Yes, there is one aftermarket SD Card that is currently recommended by Viofo.
But, since 2020 we have seen these “previously recommended" cards removed from the official list.
So basically any recommended card can be removed from the list at any time for any reason.
But Viofo Brand SD Cards will always be suitable for use.
The reason I’m bringing this up because a 512GB Viofo Brand SD Card can cost almost as much an an entire Viofo 1-CH dash cam.

The second reason I’m hoping you wait for next month’s sale is by that time we might get a major firmware update that will finally unlock LPID, (low power impact detection) Parking Mode.
And maybe some other stuff.
-Chuck

I suppose its a matter of personal choice, I too was looking for a dash camera but wanted a 2 channel one and like you mainly for parking mode (poor neighbours with no parking ability).
After a lot of research I went for the Vantrue S1 pro max and am very happy with the results, picture quality is very good and response wake up times perfect for where I park my car at night. The biggest issue I had was adjusting the sensitivity level but once I found the best for my situation its perfect. Vantrue were also very helpful and quick to respond when I had an issue, with a noise which we thought was caused by the camera but it turned out to be a loose connection in the cars electrical system. They were very helpful and quick to respond.
But basically its you who have to decide which one is best for your situation.
Good luck

Hello @AnthonyH
Thank you for stopping in.
This type of feedback from an actual paying customer is invaluable.

1.) Is S1 Pro Max the first dash cam you have ever owned / used?
2.) Do you have anything else to compare S1 Pro Max with?
-Chuck

This is the first dash cam I have ever owned, but have seen several working in other friends cars.
As I said in my post at the end of the day it is down to personal choice depending on your budget
