Vantrue E360

I don't think the 5.2K resolution is going to be half high enough for you!
Would be interesting to see it paired up with a high resolution camera though.
Tough because you have to look at it through the lens (no pun intended) of it being a dashcam first and foremost, but then also it being a 360 camera that can be used like a 360 camera would. In which case comparisons against something like Insta360 may be a little unfair...

I wasn't comparing to an Insta360, I was comparing to normal 4K and 2K dashcams.

Vortex normally only uses 4K dashcams, with a horizontal field of view of 90°, this is 5.2K with some lost to overlap to cover 360°, so it is a quarter of the pixels per license plate that Vortex is used to horizontally, or if you count the pixels in 2D, then err, is that 1/16th the pixels per licence plate?

I think 360 video is 2:1 ratio not 24:9.

This camera is exciting, I have been a fan of 360 cameras since before the first Ricoh Theta.

I hope it can take still photos.
You have a choice of Front and Rear at 1:1, Front and Rear fisheye at 3:4, 360° Panorama at 24:9, and maybe a few others!

Replace my use of 'you' with 'one' then, either way wasn't insinuating that you were comparing to insta360

Regardless, not sure what pixel counting has to do with it when he's mentioned in his YouTube videos before that the E360 looks like an interesting concept, and its not like it's a ****ty 1080p dashcam

and its not like it's a ****ty 1080p dashcam
If you want to read license plates, then it is lower resolution than a normal 1080 camera.

I agree, definitely interesting, but I think as an additional dashcam for the interior and sides, rather than the main dashcam.

If you can play it on your iPhone, you can Airplay it from your iPhone to your 4K TV...
Incorrect.
You can, but I can't.

For parking surveillance it would be perfect I guess.
Can't really get a better coverage with less effort.

@Jeff_Vantrue
I’m starting to have concerns about the handheld mount.
When I saw the specification of 3300mAh per 18650 cell I thought, that sounds like a Li-ion, and not a LiFePO4 cell.
The 18650 cells in EGEN dash cam battery packs are 1500mAh.
Of course this handheld mount is supposed to be used outside the car, but there’s got to be at least one customer that’s going to set it up in their car, and leave it unattended.
Any many others that will leave it charging unattended in a hot car.
Everyone knows what happens next.
If Vantrue replaced the (2) 18650 Li-ion cells 6600mah with (2) 18650 LiFePO4 cells 3000mah that would reduce run time from 4 hours to 1 hour 48 Minutes.
Of course this will increase cost but, that would be my recommendation so we don’t have any car fires.
Keep in mind this is only my worthless opinion.
I’m sure you’ll want to confirm with your engineers, and accountants, (those guys always agree with each other right).

Can not wait for the influencers to tell us how great the product is….
Did you not see it won the prestigious Red Dot Award 2024?

Presumably in the category of "360° Dashcam" ... I wonder what it was competing against?
Ahh, no, it is in "Vehicle Accessories":

but I forgot, you don't have to win to win the red dot, so the Viofo VS1 is also a red dot winner 2024 in vehicle accessories:

@Jeff_Vantrue
I just realized you can replace the (2) Li-ion 18650 cells (6600mah) with (2) LiFePO4 26650 cells (7600mAh).
This would increase run time from 4 hours to 4 hours 31 minutes.
Of course this will increase cost but again, car fires.
See attached photo of 26650 LiFePO4 cell.
This was taken from 70mai’s new dash cam battery pack.

Everything is Red Dot these days aye haha
Are you saying Red Dot Design is a corrupt organization no better than J.D. Power & Associates.
What exactly are you saying?
(before Scotty went crazy)

Well it's like Skytrax with their airline ratings etc. Take it all with a grain of salt to be honest haha

I had a couple of Insta 360 cams and I definitely felt like I had been scammed by an influencer.
