Vantrue E360

@Jeff_Vantrue
The E360 looks like it would make a good travel / temporary dash cam for rental car / vacation.

1.) Do you guys have any plans to add a suction cup mount for the E360 like you have for other models, (E1, E2, E3)?
2.) Does the E360 generate two separate files from each image sensor, or just one file of recorded footage?
3.) Does the E360 require specialized / proprietary software to view the recorded footage?
4.) Does the E360 have both H.264 & H.265 Video Codecs?
IMHO suck cups suck. I've had dozens and NOT ONE will stay attached for a year, and most fall off every week or day. Vantrue gives you a couple plastic sheets to stick to the window, and a 3M pad on the camera mount to stick to the plastic sheet. VERY SMART!
In 360º mode you get ONE video file with all the data. You can configure for 4k front only, or something like 2k+2k limited "front and rear". Nice options.

No. One of the reasons I'm dumping all my TypeS crap is that DashCamViewerPro Just Works® with the files straight out of the vantrue e360! Hooray!

No. You get what you get and you don't pitch a fit. ;-p

One thing I prefer over just running an insta360 (in addition to no required Chinese spyware just to view my files) is that it doesn't waste pixels on sky and your crotch. So, that 1944 vertical pixels really is better resolution for the parts that matter, that ring around the entire horizon.

I know they're marketing it as an action camera too, but that all seems rather auxiliary compared to its potential as first and foremost, a dashcam
Yes, for people who don’t want to invest in a GoPro or Insta360 because they rarely use action cameras but still have occasional recording needs—like capturing a scenic drive to a camping trip, documenting moments at a party, or recording footage during a business meeting—the E360 could be a great option. Its primary purpose as a driving and parking safety camera makes it practical for daily use, ensuring it provides value beyond occasional events. It’s a reliable and worthwhile investment for both safety and versatility.

Sorry no video. I'm shy. ;-) This should give you a fair idea of how clear the images are though. I'm glad that license plates are readable to the sides. So, it's obviously no 8k do everything dashcam, but for $300US I'm pretty happy with the results. As someone mentioned, if you really want ultra high quality, you'll still want a 4k front, 4k rear, and a couple of side pointing cameras... or this, plus a vantrue 4n pro (which I'm hoping to install this weekend on the cage with walls). I just realized that screenshotting and Gimp'ing reduced the quality a bit. So here's a zoomed in bit showing more clearly how clear the side-view picks up license plates.
IMHO, this is a great little all-around camera. It's not going to win many awards for legible plates at a distance, but I'm pretty sure even with this limited pixel count it's better than the TypeS junk advertising as FOUR KAY.

PS: yes, I forgot to take off the front paper thing. It's off now. 😎 Don't worry though, the lens plastic shipping protectors were off, so this is as good as the imaging gets.

PPS: I noticed that the rear-facing camera picks up infra-red! It's a shame the front facing one doesn't do this too, for "parking at night" situations.

What I would really like is a remote viewing capability with an alarm, so if someone starts messing with my car I can at least get an alert and run to the car to kick him in the nuts before he just steals the camera! ;-) Is there any hope for something like that? I think I could kludge a raspberry pi in the trunk to stream the video... or maybe a wifi extender to allow me to stay connected for live-viewing up to a few 1000 feet? For now, I just trust, and try to park within view.

Nice to see some footage and photos of the E360. Looking forward to more 😉

Night time HDR appears non-functional.
Can you fix?
We need someone to confirm & verify.

Nice niche to fill with the E360 🙂

Hello! The E360 can send real-time alarms and let you check video remotely if work with the Vantrue 4G LTE module.
Here’s the product you might want to check out: https://www.amazon.com/gp/B0D4QX6791it is also compatible with E360

PPS: I noticed that the rear-facing camera picks up infra-red! It's a shame the front facing one doesn't do this too, for "parking at night" situations.
Actually, there are infrared lights both in front of and inside cameras. The front infrared lights are turned off by default in normal driving mode and only switch to automatic mode when parked.

That is HDR, and it is functioning. Have you seen night-time dashcam footage without HDR?

Clearly, there is a long and short exposure combined into one frame.

That is doing pretty well considering the resolution and wide angle lens, it will be interesting to see if any plates are readable in daylight...

The car in that image is quite close, it is not often going to be readable with Panzer Platform's wide roads and small plates, but to have a crash, you do need to get close!

Actually, there are infrared lights both in front of and inside cameras. The front infrared lights are turned off by default in normal driving mode and only switch to automatic mode when parked.
Do you mean that there are infrared lights facing the windscreen that turn on when parked?
Or infrared lights facing the seats which are turned on when parked?
Or both?

Having the option to illuminate the interior, only when parked, is nice.
Lights facing the glass probably give big reflections? We need someone to demonstrate these working...

What I noticed is that the aft facing camera can “see in the dark“ and detect the infrared from my garage security cameras, but the fore facing camera picks up nothing but black. I don’t really want infrared lights for illumination (in part because I figured they would just reflect off the windshield back into the camera) I just want infrared cameras to see in the near dark.
I’m going to have to muck around with settings, and find the infrared camera ON button, as well as look into the LTE module. 🙂
One thing that’s a bummer is there doesn’t seem to be any way to go into parking mode without using the fancy wiring harness. Since my cigarette lighter is powered all the time, I don’t need to hardwire it; but I guess that means I can’t have parking mode. :-(

Are you able to reframe footage using your phone's gyro and pinch to zoom using the app?
