Best footage I have seen to date from a A119s ^

Created new A119S - Stable versions 6Vg , 4Vg , 2Vg
View ChangeLog > https://viofo-dash-cam-modified-firmware.blogspot.com/p/download-a119s-mod-file.html
These new Public Stable MODs all utilize tighter Sharpness range on all 3 levels with Soft reduced for Lens2 owners. Each version has a different Bitrate for improved detail, 26Mbps has best detail.
Stable 26Mbps Vivid colour version at bottom of this list.

The interest in the A119S has grown almost unbelievably, the following words are great to say,
please see "Page 52" of this thread to help select the best Vivid color modified firmware.
Page 52 > https://dashcamtalk.com/forum/threads/a119s-modified-firmware-mods-archive.35824/page-52#post-442934

decided to move the Stable Vg series notice to top of Page 53 !!!

DCTeam has done an exceptional job Testing dozens of Beta versions to produce this latest Stable Modified Firmware 6Vg series. Well done to all those involved.

To help decide which bitrate version to use, one might choose Mod-4 24Mbps if living in a temperate climate area, Mod-6 26Mbps for cooler and Mod-2 22Mbps for warmer, humid areas respectively.
These are just general guidelines for safely operating dashcams, without overheating, thus increasing their expected lifespan.

MOD 6Nxv1 vs. 6Nxv2
1080p/30fps, WDR Off, EV 0.

Soft sharpness
Nxv1 soft.jpg
Nxv2 soft.jpg

Normal sharpness
Nxv1 normal.jpg
Nxv2 normal.jpg

Strong sharpness
Nxv1 strong.jpg
Nxv2 strong.jpg

Nxv1 is my choice.

Wow! Lots went down in the last 48 hours! Awesome!
Installing Stable 6Vg now on both Cams and will begin collecting footage!

Details for DCTeam Members comparing Vivid Colour Saturation firmware.
  • MOD-6Nxv1 uses default Saturation25 from FW v4.02B with Red tint adjusted.
  • MOD-6Nxv2 uses Saturation20 from FW v1.01 with +18 full spectrum boost.
  • MOD-6Vg uses Saturation20 from FW v1.01 with +10 full spectrum boost to lessen blown-out whites.

  1. Normal & Vivid Saturation versions are useful to End User.
  2. Request VIOFO add to MENU > Saturation > Normal / Vivid.

Here are a few videos comparing 6Nxv1 and 6Nxv2. The lighting conditions are roughly the same due to overcast, but the time of day is different. The night video locations are also different, but you can still get a pretty good sense of colouration. I won't have sunny conditions for probably another week or so.

Settings for both: 1080p@30fps + CPL + WDR Off + Soft Sharpness + 60Hz + EV 0

Day:
6Nxv1
6Nxv2

Night:
6Nxv1
6Nxv2

Looking at the two they're quite comparable, which is good. Both are good choices. I can't say anything for sunny day picture quality comparisons though. I think v1 might be a little bit more crisp on my cam as well. It's more noticeable in the night video, where v1 shows a bit less fuzz over the picture and is slightly clearer overall. I'm a fan of the more saturated picture in v1. It also has a slightly warmer picture, which has always been my preference.

Unless sunny day video proves to show different, hopefully others have sun around for videos, I think I prefer v1. So far anyway. It has a warmer and more crisp picture.

Is v1 4.03 settings and v2 1.01 settings? If so, it might also provide a good baseline if we're working with viofo's newest 4.03 settings.

EXCELLENT !! this is the Best 24Mbps A119S Image Quality footage from all previous Stock or Modified Firmware, not counting the high Bitrate 27Mbps MODs. Thank you Sir for the time and effort to record all these clips under a variety of light conditions. Your Lens works well at Normal Sharpness but all 3 levels are acceptable and was my adjustment goal. Which A119S Lens was used for this footage? I especially like the Highway Tunnel clips.

Here is My 6Vg Mod Folder. Sub folders include Lens 1 and Lens 2 each containing or will contain (Soft | Norm | Sharp) Folders.
As of This posting I have only added "NORM" Clips I will post again when I add other clips in the Soft and Sharp settings

Here's a night clip from 6Vh-vivid.

Did I mention how much I like colour, saturation, and a warmer image? :D This is impressive! Makes you almost forget that it's cold outside and the sides of the roads are disgusting. If we could have gotten a 27Mbps bitrate this would look even more incredible.

1080p@30fps + CPL + WDR Off + EV 0 + 60Hz + Soft Sharpness

6Vh - Vivid - Night

FANTASTIC night footage from A119S V2 Lens2 using modified firmware 6Vh-vivid at 26Mbps with Soft Sharpness!!! Osborne Village never looked so good! The time and effort Beta testing is paying off just in time for the Holidays. Thanks for sharing this cold crisp clip.

Thank you [emoji4]
It's lens 2 of my second Dashcam.
The first is still under repair at Viofo because of the broken video file when turning off the ignition, also again some weeks after changing the capacitors.

Last video clip file corruption Fix
Common issue when VIOFO Dashcam isn't used for 14-21 days <or> if SuperCapacitors have failed and require replacement <or> if memory card is removed while red REC button is still lit.
Suggest connecting A119/P/S to 5 volt smartphone/tablet charger indoors for 1 hour allowing it to record video on memory card, enable Parking Mode for testing to save storage space. The point is to allow Capacitors and tiny RTC battery to charge (RTC normally takes 4 hours). After that power cycle dashcam by disconnecting power cable waiting 12 seconds then reconnecting power cable.
Remember to watch the REC button light to see if its staying on 4-6 seconds longer after disconnecting power cable.
Always wait 5 seconds for red REC button light to go off before ejecting or inserting microSD memory card.

I know and my Dashcam is working almost every day.
But thank you.
