Oh goodie.
Can't wait to see the improvements.

Thanks for this. Was about to release a review but encountered some HDR flicker/colour temperature issues during daytime. Hopefully this will solve things? Will re-test and post results after!

Curious, does this solve the HDR/color temp issues? That is the reason I haven't switched over from the A139P due to how bad it has been on rapid color shifting.

I've just downloaded both firmware updates to my A229 Pro & A229 Plus.
I'm chomping at the bit to gather "DRIVING" test footage.
@rcg530 will also be gathering test footage this week too.
For the most part I think pulling the trigger on an A229 Pro is a safe bet now.
Right now it's $299 on Amazon US for black Friday.
Here's a 5% ($19.50 Off) Promo Code: (Exp. 1/7/24): PANZER229PRO
There are 3 additional promotions for 20% - 25% off Viofo SD Cards, and Hardwire Kit.
Add yes, you want the 3-CH version.

IQ optimized and some small bugs were fixed by the new firmware.

A229 Plus: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1C_nRd2e4M-Ufi-wGN1lEQOHfefgyln_s?usp=sharing
Please update the firmware of the front and rear cameras separately.
Here is a video about how to update that you can refer to: https://we.tl/t-kIGLsoRPpR

Could you provide the version number(s) for the new firmware please. I know I'll see it when I have updated, but I likely won't be doing it right now. Thank you

Edited to update the info a bit based on further searching, and the latest firmware that has been made available

I'm unsure how useful this may be, but if you drop the .bin files into a text editor - I use BBEdit - and search for FFFFFFFF20 the next six characters seem to be what I'd call the build number for example:
FWA229P.bin = A229 Pro Front Cam: FFFFFFFF202312084 - so after FF20 you see 231208
EthcamTxFW.bin = A229 Pro (and plus?) Rear Cam: FFFFFFFF20231116 - so after FF20 you see 231207

Once you have the build number, perform another search using the build number and you should be able to find the full version number, for example:

search FWA229P.bin for 231208 in and you will find this: VIOFO_A229P_V1.1_231208 so you can see the full version number (version and build number) for the A229 Pro front cam

search EthcamTxFW.bin for 231207 and you will find this: V1.0_231207 so you can see the full version number (version and build number) for the A229 Pro (and plus?) Rear cam

Hey Viofo,

I update the new sw. but now I have the problem with update the camera with old version. I can't downgrade the firmware for the front camera to make a comparation between firmware to see improvements to make some test.

For the rear camera work the downgrade, but for the front no.

What happens?

See attached screenshots.
Hey Panzer,

Can you check in your side if you can downgrade the firmware for the front camera? On my side don't want.

I put the bin file, turn camera on, and camera opens like nothing happen.

I check the version, nothing changed, but when I remove the card to check if the bin file is still on the memory card, the file was dissapear but didn't install with an old versions.

So this is the same firmware version you sent me earlier in the day? Link looks the same..

Yes, it is same.

The A229 Pro new version support exFat file format. Please notice if you upgrade the firmware, it still requires to use the FAT32.
If you want to connect the dashcam with the iPhone 15 series, it requires to use the exFat file format.

Thanks!

I'm unsure how useful this may be, but if you drop the .bin files into a text editor - I use BBEdit - and search for FFFFFFFF20 the next six characters seem to be what I'd call the build number (version number is 1.0 for now), for example:
Front Cam: FFFFFFFF202311238 - so after FF20 you see 231123
Rear Cam: FFFFFFFF20231116 - so after FF20 you see 231116
haha nice! I just upgraded my A229 Pro and can confirm those are the front/rear firmware versions that show up in the app.

Works with Fat32 format! Thanx!

Hey Panzer,

Do you still need me to confirm & verify if firmware can be downgraded?
If so, you’ll have to be patient, and give me some time.

For me, the problem rised it's solved. Thank you also for your support.

Seems we have now a decent firmware for A229Pro, even interior camera image quality has improved, and in parking mode "motion record" also. No blue red yellow flash on image, bitrate I see remain the same like in previous firmware's.

Where I have some doubt's is on HDR on night in motion, not really catch the number plates very good, but still I need to analyze.

Maybe also in your side can insist in this way, because on my first impression seems the image is blurry when stop the record to view the number plates cannot be recognizable, but overall the image quality is improve allot.

Thanks

interior camera image quality has improved
Can you be more specific?
Do you mean the grainy appearance during DAYTIME?
Or improved IR performance at NIGHT TIME?

Maybe also in your side can insist in this way, because on my first impression seems the image is blurry when stop the record to view the number plates cannot be recognizable,
I will try to capture this tonight.
@rcg530 will most certainly have the “proof in the pudding”. Lol

Does this mean we can format the microSD card on PC to exFAT and it will remain that way in the camera? or will the camera still default to formatting in FAT32?

EDIT: just saw I answered my own question, when you format it within the camera it now defaults to exFAT instead of FAT32.
